Help me with an old horror movie...

These are the bits and pieces I can remember.  Please forgive how general these bits are, I was very young and the movie scared the hell out of me ... then.
There are several scenes with this evil spirit, ghost, following people and it looks like they used two red lights representing eyes.  These eyes were frequently moved behind bushes.
At the end of the movie one actor asks another if they have a dog, because there is a scratching sound outside the house.  One actor opens the door the find a floating red eyed ghost that takes him away.  This cancels out a curse or chant that was made earlier in the movie.
I saw it late night in the 70's, it kept me up.

The closest I can come up with is that the whole red eyes think reminds me of "Night of the Demon" but that was the fifties.
