I can't recall that this question has ever been asked here on this board so....

Captain Picard?

Or...

Captain James T. Kirk?

If you were stuck in a serious survival situation of life and death, which captain would you walk, run, share food, converse, trade quips, fire hand phasers & duck for cover side by side with?

They're both very different.

What adventure would you choose and with which captain & why?

I choose Picard.

Two imagined scenarios exist for each.....one scenario that takes place in space in command of their ships...The other....on the surface of a distant planet

Well, since Trek Geezer p**sed me off by agreeing with you in the other thread, I will have to say Wesley Crusher. There! How do you like that pain, mister Trek "I have to agree with Ash" Geezer? There's plenty more where that came from, watch out.

Both captains have their good and bad points. Kirk was more of a hands on captain with intelligence to back it up. Picard was more of the intelligence first type of captain with some field ability. It would all depend on the situation I would be in before I could decide who.

James Tiberius Kirk is by far  the better captain and here are 115 reasons why.

But what else would you expect a true follower of the most holy bloated and toupeed one to say. Long live the OTS!!

Just take the example of Generations, Picard is trying to stop Malcolm McDowell and is getting his ass handed to him. When Kirk shows up at the end he waxes poetic upside Malcolm's head.

I'd pick Captain Morgan. There's no one more competent at making me incompetent than the Cap'n. Mmmm

Well, frankly, Kirk is such a horndog that the thought for anybody being left alone with him is a frightening proposition.

I would have to go with Picard. In addition to being diplomatic and a survivalist, if worse came to worst, you could always use his head as a reflector for S.O.S. signals.

The Crimson Chin - actually he isn't a captain but I just wanted to give a nod to the Fairly Oddparents, Nickelodeon's best kept secret

I haven't seen too much of next generations so my decision maybe unfair but I'm going with-

Kirk.

Because despite the Enterprise lost it's main power, lost  most of it's power, and was damaged he somehow pulled out  a miracle and was able to beat back Khan's ship.

That scene alone was truely badass.

Sisko is also a damn fine captain and is fearless in battle.

And if I got stuck with Janeway....sure, I'd trust in her.  She's a strong captain.

It could be worse, you could be stuck with Admiral Nakamura.

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

« Reply #14 on: September 01, 2005, 09:31:11 AM »

Anybody for Capt. Buck Rogers? Or better yet, Col. Wilma Dearing (mmm...Erin Gray)?

Of the two listed, I'd go with Kirk in a crisis, since he could always just rip his shirt and stun the enemy with his (lack of) iron-hard abs.

In peacetime, I'd go with Picard, simply because he could hold an intelligent conversation.

But Wilma Dearing is still the best choice.
