Definitely Kirk for me.  Kirk would be a great boss, Picard would be the boss from hell.  The kind of guy that makes you tense up everytime he walks in the room.  He always seemed like a character designed by a committee, like he has to be one part professional wine taster, one part musty college professor specializing in the work of Shakespeare, one part, well, whatever the 19 other people in the focus group think.

Kirk, on the other hand, a guy could go out and have a beer with Kirk.  If you slacked off your job he'd kick your butt.  Picard would give you some holier-than-thou sermon about what an honor it is to be a member of the crew of the Enterprise, I'd be trying to stifle a yawn, he'd prattle on and on in quasi-poetic prose...

Kirk would never drink no freakin' Earl Gray Tee.

Coffee...black.

Kirk would have been a great boss. Remember the little references to staff Christmas parties, Thanksgiving dinner and good stuff like that? Never heard of any such things on Picard's ship.

And just the casual way Kirk could relate to people - joking with his officers, working out in the gym with the enlisted men, flirting with beautiful women. Kirk got tough when the situation demanded it, but he knew how to relax. Picard was always 'on.'
