Well, I tried the "Mystery Classics" 50 movie set (on 12 DVDs) and after watching about 10 of the movies (most recently, last night's viewing of DICK TRACY, DETECTIVE where Dick Tracy goes head-to-head with a villain called "Splitface"), I came to the conclusion that it was $20 well spent. So I went into one of my buying frenzies and ordered 4 more of the 50 movie sets from Treeline films:
* Horror Classics
* Sci-fi Classics
* Hollywood Legends
* All-Stars
And my wife just called me at work to tell me they were delivered today. That's 200 cheesy, public domain movies for under $100. And since the weather is terrible here in Massachusetts, it looks like I'll be watching quite a few of them . . .
The All-Stars set is very intriguing. It appears to be mostly made-for-TV movies from the 1970s, including such "classics" as THE BOY IN THE PLASTIC BUBBLE (John Travolta), HOW AWFUL ABOUT ALLAN (Anthony Perkins), CONGRATULATIONS, IT'S A BOY (Bill Bixby), FIREHOUSE (Richard Roundtree), ALL THE KIND STRANGERS (Stacy Keach), THE DISAPPEARANCE OF FLIGHT 412 (Glenn Ford), GET CHRISTIE LOVE (Teresa Graves), BORN TO BE SOLD (Lynda Carter).
Bring out the crackers, because there's plenty of cheese on the way!
