We're all just victims of circumstance

Them!(1954) -  This is the movie that started the whole nuclear mutated giant critter craze in the 50s. For those who've been living on another planet, this is the giant ant movie.

This is the most well made of the giant insect movies. It manages to generate quite a bit of creepiness and the ant's are surprisingly well done for the period when the film was made.

Things to notice about this film: An appearance by a  young Leonard Nimoy as an Army Staff Sgt.., I think he has two lines.  You also get to hear both James Arness and James Whitmore scream like girls.

Forbidden Planet (1955) - What can I say, it was on TCM yesterday afternoon and this is the movie that helped inspire my life long love of science fiction.  Robbie, the Krell, and monsters from the Id, oh my!!

Sahara (2005) - A lot of folks here trashed this movie, but I loved it. Pure old actiion/adventure that pretends to be nothing but what it is. Not much thinking involved in watching it, but that can be a good thing sometimes.

Them - one of the few movies whre the hero doesn't get the girl because he dies.  It also features Fess Parker (aka Daniel Boone)  as a pilot who spends most of his on screen time (in a hospital) complaining that they took his pants.

Forbidden Planet - Maybe they're rename this Naked Planet and re-release it.  Leslie Nielson as a romantic lead?!

Sahara - haven't seen it but it looks intriguing

Them: One of my favourite 50s sci-fi films.  I have a an A3 [or so] version of the movie poster on my wall at home

Forbidden Planet: I borrowed the soundtrack from the library the other day, I love that old school sci-fi feel of it all.  As for the movie, I like it, but it's not a stand out film for me.

Sahara: Well I've talked about it before, so I won't go too much into it other than to say that whilst I liked it, I found it a bit of a dissappointment.
