HIDALGO (2004) - Great adventure movie. Thought it was just a horse story, but it's a lot more. Good story, action, locations, and the acting was decent. Wish I had saw it at the  theater. Check this one out. It's the Old West meeting the Middle East.

NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959) - Couldn't ever sit through this when younger, but tonight I found it a really great Hitchcock movie. It's definately Hitchcock style only this one is a spy thriller. It played on TCM tonight. We ate at the Mount Rushmore cafe last summer and it hasn't changed in 45 years. They keep it just as nice.

BROKEN ARROW (1950) - Good Jimmy Stewart Western about a treaty between Cochise and the goverment. Jimmy Stewart helps make the peace while falling in love with an Indian maiden. Really enjoyed this film with more great Western scenery. Remember seeing parts of it when younger.

Hidalgo is based on a true story.  Hollywood adjusted the real ending for dramatic effect.  In reality Hidalgo won by just over 23 hours, but as is often the case reality makes for less interesting viewing.  I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.  Omar Sharif does a wonderful job with his character.  But then, he's been playing it all his life.

All wonderful movies.

Hidalgo
I did see it in the theater. Why it didn't do better is a surprise to me, as it has become one of my favorite films.

North by Northwest
One of Hitchcock's best. I like it even better than "Psycho."

Broken Arrow
After years of Indian bashing in Westerns, one of the first westerns, in a string of westerns, to look at things from the Indians' point of view. Scott, do you know what language that movie sheet is in?

It's french

Roughly translated it reads:

The true story of the great Sioux chief  Cochise.

One very big western by Delmer Daves
