I love drag racing and I love watching car movies. I just hope someone else besides me saw this one. I have been looking for it for years.
I know it was on VHS. And I know I rented it somewhere around 1984-1985. And it was an old movie then. It was color, but it was very much a "B" movie.
The movie was unique though. It had no name actors. But there was a red Barracuda that was awesome. Mid to late 60's model. And the guy that owned it, something happened and he leaves the city (Los Angeles I think) and goes out to the desert. He's almost run over in the desert by a jet black 1955 Chevy with no lights on in the middle of no where. So, he goes into the local desert town and finds the car the next day. The guy who owns the car is BLIND. He builds cars by touch, sound, and memory. He didn't need headlights on the car to drive, he's blind. But he would drive in the desert so he wouldn't crash. He would know how far he'd driven by counting. When he counted so high, then he had been so far, and he would turn the wheel for so many seconds and then start counting again to get back to where he started. His girlfriend helped him. So, the owner of the Barracuda is a disgraced street racer, and the blind guy helps him out. Barracuda guy goes back to the city and defeats his arch nemesis in a race, and the other guy can't take it and drives his car off a bridge.
I remember this movie vividly. Everything but the title that is.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks a million.
