Glad to hear some agreement.  =)  I went to the film and honestly could have walked out after the first 30 minutes of Skull Island.   And I  never.  Walk.  Out.  Of.  Movies.

I was wondering "WTF were the critics smoking to give this four stars?"

I figured it would be excessive in a lot of ways, but I loved the LOTR movies *so* much that I just assumed it was gonna be good anyhow...

But I wasn't a fan of the original, anyhow, so that's probably part of my deal with it.  Some stories really carry forward well regardless of culture shifts... this movie just doesn't feel like one of those, to me.

I'll shut up now.  Sorry.

some of you guys seem to indicate that Godzooky debuted in the toon, I thought he debuted in the movies, was he in the toon first or the movie first?(and yes, for those who didn't know he was in a Godzillia movie though I always liked him--if they ever killed off Godzillia for good in the series of movies Godzooky would be an excellent way to bring those movies back......

pops_mcfly, I think we're all positive that Godzooky appeared in the American cartoon just so the kiddies could have a 'cute' and 'funny' monster to laugh at. Godzooky could have been inspiried by Godzilla's frog faced son, Minilla. But I've always thought that Godzooky was like a young cousin of Z.

I'd take neither Zooky nor Minilla. But at least the Baby Godzillas from Mechagodzilla II and Spacegodzilla were cute, and Baby G did grow up into the kick ass Godzilla Jr for Destroyah.

I'm always amazed at how people's views of a movie can vary so much.  It's like they didn't even see the same film.

Jackson's next movie The Lovely Bones promises to be a much smaller picture.

Based on the best selling book by Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones is the story of a 14-year-old girl from suburban Pennsylvania who is murdered by her neighbor. She tells the story from Heaven, showing the lives of the people around her and how they have changed all while attempting to get someone to find her lost body.
