I became a moderate fan of MST3K late in the game, and only caught the last Mike seasons on SciFi.

Immediately coming to mind for favorite eps are the "Robot Rump." double feature with "The Screaming Skull",

"DAMN, OUT OF PIGS BLOOD", "Don't touch Mickey, you don't know where he's been!"

and "Soulkeeper"

"Maybe by pursuing them, I could catch them in some manner..."

I love the part in Cave Dwelers where Joel and the bots re-inact the opening credits of the film. Gets me every time! :bouncegiggle:

I really liked the end of the episode where Joel and the Bots gave their review of that film to the Mads, who were not very impressed about what the SOL crew thought of the film.  But seeing the other crud that came along, I think they should've saved that for Manos: The Hands of Fate.

Monkeyface

Here are my favorites in order:

5. Giant Spider Invasion
4. Space Mutiny
3. Overdrawn at the Memory Bank (starring Raul Julia)
2. Parts: The Clonus Horror (the producers actually tried to sue the makers of The Island for ripping off their movie)

And by far my favorite MST3K episode which you all must see:
1. Time Chasers (aka Tangents)

Sister Grace

I didn't know that NetFlix has such a collection of MST3K available. I love the show, but usually just caught it when it was on tv. I should have Ring of Terror probably friday. I haven't seen this one yet, but i'm sooo looking forward to it.

okay, i've been watching a bunch of the older MST3K episodes. i guess i'm more of a mike fan. it seems like the joel episodes, especially those with the original servo are pretty flat. i mean, in some instances, they're just reading the screen titles in a goofy voice. this is comedy?

so, are there any older episodes that are especially good? for reference, some of my favorite eps are "mitchell", "girl in the golden boots", and the feature film "this island earth".

I have to confess that I've only seen one MST3K episode when the SciFi Channel was part of what was on offer here. I can't remember the episode or the film, but it could have been one of the Godzilla versus ...... movies which are great.

The scene has about five hundred guys gathered around a table looking at something, one guy walks past, looks at them and walks on. One of the robots says: "Hey guys: am I the only one working here?"  :teddyr: :teddyr:

On the IMDB page, there is a quote from Crow T Robot who hears a door slam in the film and says: "That's the sound of the director giving up and leaving."  :teddyr: :bouncegiggle:

i love the boggy creek two episode

ToyMan

yeah, that's a classic, for sure.

one of my favorite bits was in "the girl with the golden boots", where one of the heavies/cronies is sort of leaning into the frame in a scene where the characters are meeting in the manager's quarters, and as soon as i saw him, i thought the same thing as one of the bots said, something like "hey, look! count chocula!"...

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the MST series, but I liked it more for the movies than the robots/host  ... mainly because I love bad movies, like everyone else here. But for the most part I just wished those guys would shut up so I could watch the move lol .. just wondered if anyone else felt the same way.

I think my favorite was The Pod People.

"You can do magic things!"
"It's called evil, kid."

"I'll never forget you, Trumpy."
"The way you callously knocked off fifteen people, I'll never forget that. Don't ever change, Trumpy!"
"Let's play! Do you know what playing is, Trumpy?"
"Yes. It's when I break you in half"

BTM

I second (or third) the mentions of Space Mutiny.

I also liked Zombie Nightmare, partial because I'd seen the UNMisted version of the film years before.  Although it does run a bit low on steam during the last half hour, it's still pretty funny.  And it's got ADAM WEST!  And he's playing a bad guy!  How cool is that?

There's one scene, for instance, where the police are trying to subdue this wild, out of control bad guy.  They finally get him on the ground and Adam West walks by and goes, "Bad boy" and kicks him in the face.  Tom goes, "Oh, that was easy for him, he just pretended it was Tim Burton!"
