Are you an artist?  Got cool pictures you've drawn, painted, or taken with your camera?  Have you taken regularly pictures and photo-shopped them funny, bizarre, or no reason at all?

Well, here's the place to show off and comment on your work and the works of others!  Be sure and keep it SFW (dunno if we can post NSFW images if they're labeled and hidden behind a link or not, you'll have to ask Andrew about that one.)

Anyway, I'll kick this off with one of mine.  It's one of my earliest Photoshop jobs..

Never really thought of a title for it.  That's me (and my mouth) in the picture.  I just had an image in my mind of a pale guy with no face who has a mouth on his hand.  Wanted it to look vaguely like one of Clive Barkers Tortured Souls toy line (which BTW is hands down THE most effed up toy line I've ever seen.)

It didn't quite come out as well as I'd hoped; the head part seems a bit "flat", but I do like how the mouth occurred.  Tried to make the lips look a bit "Rocky Horror"ish.  Overall, it's just supposed to be a surreal, creepy picture, but one girl I showed it too said she thought it was "funny", so I think I may have failed in that regard...

I like it, BTM.  I wouldn't take "funny" as an indication of failure; something can be funny and creepy/surreal at the same time (think of the chicken dinner in ERASERHEAD, or Michael Jackson ).

As far as NSFW images, the rule states: "Do not post pornographic images or links to adult websites.  If there is something you want to share, but it is not on a site safe to access from the workplace (a number of horror and b-movie websites can fall into this category), please put a prominent "NOT SAFE FOR WORK" notice in the post."

So as long as it's not "pornographic," you should be fine posting anything with a NSFW link.

I signed up to photoshop today, because I wanted to make a half decent banner for my blog. I'd never used any software like photoshop before, so this was the best I could do:

Here's a calender I did up about a decade ago in a QuarkExpress program I think it was:

So, whenever we have family get together, I tend take a lot of pictures, more than my mom in fact.  Dunno, I just like capturing memories I guess, especially of my nieces and nephews, they're always fun to photograph.  Often times when I'm looking at pictures I took I get ideas of various alterations to do in Photoshop.  Here's a small example..

This is a pic of my niece (well, technically step-niece, but who's really counting?) Evelyn (I like to call her Eve.)  She's holding one of those bubble wand toys, and that gave me the idea to do this...

This isn't really finished, I want to add a cool Star Wars background, put in a "glow" from the lightsaber, and maybe change her outfit a bit, make it more like a robe.  Also thinking of doing both a light and dark Jedi version, maybe on the dark one I'll give her red skin and tattoos or something.. hehe.

My friend and I sometimes think up a stupid idea, and then photoshop it. This one came from a basketball game we were playing ( I realize that the head and body don't match, and that the ball isn't leaving his hand.. that's part of the joke.)

I also enjoy making crappy pictures in MS Paint..

I haven't had a chance to work on some new stuff lately-but here are some of the ones from some prevous posts of mine.
Meant to be movie posters.  Like to get some feed back.

This one I did for Andrew's birthday.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

No, it's a G.I. Joe that I had.

Well, hey, that's not bad!  I did take a class in Digital Art once, but, for the most part I learned Photoshop all on my own.  Well, technically, I learned Paint Shop Pro all on my own, and then switched over to Photoshop.  The programs are remarkably similar except for a few features I had to "relearn".  The biggest tip I can tell ya is practice and, if you have the patience, actually read through the help files.  :)

Oh, also, check out this series: You Suck At Photoshop.  Your helpful narrator Donnie gives you lessons on Photoshop and the depths of human suffering as we gain insight into his tortured existence...  :)

Hehe.. those are pretty good!  Is that you in the first couple pictures?  Love the effect on the Crab Nebula one.

How'd Andy like his bday pic?  :)

I'm pretty sure I gave you karma for that the first time you posted it, but it deserves another round.

If you can save your work as a jpeg or other web friendly format, you can upload it to a photo sharing site like photobucket.  Then the site can give you a code to post in the message boards.
