I entered an NFL playoff select-a-lineup contest with over 170,000 entrants. The first week I was average (about 60,000th place), but last week I finished in 65th place.

My prize? $1. Hoping to double that this week!
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

My daughter is off visiting my mom, and will be til summer, doing school over there, everything, and with her gone I find I have no interest in going to church, something I did with her for the past few years, because she wanted to. The people we'd go there with, go there and see, go out and have breakfast with afterward, people I've known since I was my daughter's age, are sad I haven't been there the last two weeks, and each told me separately today how upset they were that our ritual of getting together is unraveling, and how I am missed, but I can't seem to summon the desire in me to go. Honestly, church services leave me feeling very far from God. Sometimes I think God is to be experienced, not thought about, and I think about God far more often than I feel God's presence, which I maintain I have at times in my life.

I truly am very bad at this.

I haven't been to church since Dad passed in 2008.

It seems like every time I've turned on the radio today there's been a song playing that was used in The Virgin Suicides.

Lately I been making an effort to see the best in things, so I created this list:

Nazis: Great fashion sense.
KKK: Supported bed sheet manufacturers.
Japanese Imperialists: Zero Godzilla attacks on their watch.
Nation of Islam: Keeps Pee-wee Herman's clothing in our memories.
Judas Iscariot: Makes us feel better about ourselves.
Al Qaeda: Held ISIS to number the two spot.
Mark David Chapman: Kept the Beatles out of the contemporary music category. (You're welcome, classic rock!)
Scrappy-Doo: Helps us miss Saturday morning cartoons a little less.
Covid: Finally gave us a rhyme for the color pattern "mauved."

As I'm pushing 40 in 3 weeks, I've grown to accept it more and move on in life.

I once said I'd never make it past 21. Then 25. You could say I had a death wish of some kind. I lived recklessly. Booze, drugs, thoughts of self harm, 4 day benders. I lost many friends and relatives to death.

But I wanna be here now. Yeah this car accident knocked me out, but seeing other patients in the ward who've been missing legs, and couldn't walk at all, I'm grateful. It's a blessing in disguise.
