Filming was completed in 2021. A theatrical release was planned for spring 2022, followed by a September 9, 2023 release announcement, but test screenings weren't good. Warner then shelved the remake based on a Stephen King novel.

Stephen King himself tweeted that the James Wan produced vampire film will have its US debut on HBO MAX in 2024.

However, the film was recently given a theatrical release date for the UK and Germany, October 2024. So maybe it will hit theaters everywhere after all.

I predict this won't be good.

No reason based on just the information you cited to expect it to be good. SALEM'S LOT (2004) had Donald Sutherland, Andre Braugher, Samantha Mathis, Rutger Hauer... and it was garbage. Tough to match the original...

It can't be that bad. I'd like to check it out, even if for me "Salem's Lot" will always be the one by Tobe Hooper.
