gee that's a lot of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY movies. a scary amount. how many have you seen?

in the context of post-2000 horror movies I thought the first one was very good.  it's one of those films that I don't think could've been handled any better than it was. also I liked the buzz that it generated, it had that "you gotta see this movie!" appeal.

the sequels... I saw part 2 and was dismayed at how boring it was. Eventually saw part 3, and didn't really get into it. I've just watched part 4, and they really dropped the ball, the actors are going for realism, but it's so unscary.

I've only just found out there were 3 further sequels...  would be surprised if anyone here's seen them but you never know. THE GHOST DIMENSION one is 3D apparently. - a bit late to that party, in 2015?
Quotethe movie was cringe, corny, cheesy and "what the biscuits" is with this atrocious acting and childish corny thing of a movie???

I recall the first one being acceptable one-time viewing but nothing I felt like revisiting. I recall the second one being slower and... I recall nothing else about it!

yes, despite the fact I really enjoyed it I've had no desire to re-watch.

I seen the first one. Boring, cheap, lazy film making. Like most "found footage" junk. Why do this kinda thing? I'll tell you why. Because they have no clue how to film a decent movie.

"probably don't bother checking out the sequels then, in that case."

I've only seen the first four:

Paranormal Activity (2007) 4.0
Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) 3.0
Paranormal Activity 3 (2011) 3.0
Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) 1.0

When Paramount picked up Paranormal Activity for distribution, they contacted Steven Spielberg if the film needed any improvements. He said it was fine as it is, but suggested a different ending for the wide release.

Before Paramount released the first to physical media you could email them your name, and it would appear in the end credits. I send my name and it is in the end credits, so  Paranormal Activity will always have a special place in my heart.
Is it October yet?

Trevor

I saw the first one and The Marked Ones. I liked the latter because it had a healthy sense of humor but the last couple of minutes are utterly terrifying 😳

so at least someone's seen one of those recent ones... I have to be honest and say I won't be actively seeking them out. if one comes into the charity shop on dvd round the corner from my work then I'll buy it

😅😊

The ending of THE MARKED ONES ties directly into the ending of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and there are a couple of very nasty shocks at the end. 😳😳😳

Just the first one. It was fine/good but left me with no desire to see any followups.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Watched the first two. Thought the first one was ok.

there is at least one blatant rip off, PARANORMAL ENTITY (yeah, real inventive guys) which has amazingly spawned 4 instalments. I did spy the dvd for the first one very cheap but couldn't bring myself to go there.
