I've heard of the movie, and I think I  might have even seen a clip of it. Not something I'd care enough about to look out though. I do vaguely recall a Billy the Fish tv series. Always felt Viz was amusing for about 5 minutes and then just kept going long after it had stopped.

Not something you see around anymore even if it is still going.

I don't remember seeing it for sale in newsagents even when it was popular... yeah definitely outstayed its welcome though

- just remembered there were also tv cartoons of Roger Melly (The Man On The Telly) and also Sid The Sexist. I can remember his geordie accent

edit - FAT SLAGS has 1.9 on imdb :)

Dolph Lundgren is in it
Quotethe movie was cringe, corny, cheesy and "what the biscuits" is with this atrocious acting and childish corny thing of a movie???

Viz was popular in South Africa in the late 90s but no longer.

fanzines... DIY magazines with a small run, dedicated to niche things, usually musical artists or scenes - altho I think I once bought one dedicated to obscure horrors?

a thing the internet probably killed off / rendered obsolete. however their lo-fi homemade charm was part of the appeal

interesting. I'd say viz humour is *very* english, so it doesn't always travel too well

News about cloning technology. Not much seems to have happened since Dolly the sheep.

Public Domain movie compilations. Used ones are common, but new ones I've not seen in a few years. I have seen cheap films packaged with 4 to 6 public domain films. Then again, that may have been a couple years ago too.

Dollar DVDs. Usually of public domain movies\TV shows, in paper envelopes or unusually thin cases.

Low budget, direct-to-video, animated movies, usually ripping off Disney films, occasionally based on classic literature or compiled from anime TV series.

Work out videos.

Colorized films. (They're not entirely gone, but are less common than they used to be.)

The store next to the movie house in my home town used to sell a big roll of that, looked like a ball of string and I ate that while watching the movie 😊😊

I got the 💩💩 much later but it was worth it 😳😆🐢

Even though our town has a convent near the church, I haven't seen any nuns in many years. They used to ride bicycles and went shopping at grocery stores, but not in a long time. Just an observation restricted to where I live.

Jehovah's Witnesses going from door to door. Apparently not anymore? At least not in our town.

Is it October yet?

I often see them standing at the side of town centres vainly hoping people will come over and talk to them, but its been years since I've seen one door to door.

Watching old sports entertainment stuff (wrestling and monster truck shows come to mind), and noticed you never see hundreds of camera flash bulbs going off when something cool happens today. Now it's just smartphones everywhere. Le sigh.

Spinner racks full of magazines.

Dollar General has a small one with cheap novels, but I've not seen one with magazines in years.

The closure of the Central News Agency chainstores here have made mag sales drop alarmingly.

Fangoria is still around, published four times a year.
