Title: The Receipt Goes In the Case
Post by: Ash on January 16, 2006, 04:29:30 AM
I was wondering...

Whenever I buy a DVD, I always make sure to keep the receipt.
I take each receipt and place it inside its proper case...even if it's a big full size paper receipt because I bought it online from a website.
I fold those up and tuck 'em in nicely.

I think I do it so I can glance at them years from now to see & remember the date I bought each one.
Most times, I can look at the dates and maybe remember something else I did that day.
They can serve as "memory placeholders".

If you came over to my place and opened every single DVD case, you'd find receipts in all of them.

Do you also make sure that the receipt goes in the case?

I usually throw the receipt away but I alway make sure my DVD, CDs or Video games works before throwing it away.

Well, if the DVD works and I opened it I don't think you can return it so I would have to say throw the receipt out if it serves no further purpose.

ASHTHECAT maybe try saving all your receipts and create wall paper for the home and get one of those home shows to film your wall paper project. It could be considered one of those art things.

I save the receipt until I watch the movie.  If there are no defects, then I throw away the receipt.

Receipts go straight into the trash.

I save only those from books, they are useful for marking the page I was reading when the phone rings.

Or was that "tissues".

Must be a slow movie week for everyone except Burgomaster and Dean who racked up mega points with a number of film viewings this weekend.

I just saw SAW. Say that 5 times fast.

Well, slow movie week but the pinnacle was when I watched the Ring 2 on saturday...ho-hum...crap like the first one except it kept me on my toes trying to come to terms with how they altered the original story to fit into this one...

Yea, I think about RING 2 when I see it on the shelve, but it's not high on my list. I liked the first American version, but want to see the original Japanese film RINGU.

I haven't seen Ring 2, but have been meaning too for a while now.  The first one [the US remake that is] was a great film [well the end really worked well] so it's been on my list of 'to hopefully get time to see soon.'

Also Scott, I've been pretty busy lately, and actually on the weekend with my slab of viewings, was actually my first full length movie I've seen all the way through in a while [and to knock out four or five was great!]

So I guess, if I can find the time to watch utter crap, you all can too!  Come on people, burn out your eye sockets with some cinematic trash: just make sure you leave enough brain matter to be able to type up a synopsis and chat to us about it!!

As for the original question, no I don't care about the receipt at all, but as an interesting similarity, my girlfriend keeps the movie stubb from every movie she sees [well tries to anyways] and she has this big pile she keeps in a drawer somewhere just as a memory thing.  Not sure how often she does it now, or how good an idea it is in practice, but I think it's a pretty good idea; just a little something nice to have.

On another note, my brother keeps all his expired met cards [train/tram/bus tickets] and has a big pile of them.  I don't actually see the point in that myself, but hey each to their own!

Mine often end up on the floor of my truck, I think...
