Title: Christmas special no longer the worst Star Wars flick!
Post by: pops_mcfly on January 24, 2006, 01:36:10 PM
Okay, maybe it's the worst OFFICAL SW flick (followed EXTREMELY closely by those horrid Ewok movies) However there is a fan made movie that is the worst SW in general.

I beleive it was in Britian(I'd have to double check) this 17 year-old girl and her 20 year old male  friend decided to make their own movie--and they decided to use a couple of discarded fluorescent light tubes they found as lightsabers.

bad idea.

They filled them with gasoline, light them on fire and then started battling.

then it happened.

early on in the battle their "lightsabers" collided and shattered dousing the two with glass and flames. As a result both were hospitalized for severe burns--just like Anakin Skywalker!

Not funny.  And didn't this, or something very similar, happen years ago?

Sounds like an urban legend, though I'm sure there are people stupid enough to do it.

I remember when I was about 17 and in high school.  A few friends and I skipped a class and walked to an abandoned warehouse several blocks away.

Inside there were flourescent tubes everywhere lying on the floor.
I remember taking one and bashing it over the back of a wooden chair.
It exploded everywhere.
At the time, I didn't realize they were pressurized tubes.

I definitely learned my lesson.
Treat flourescent tubes with care!

i, franklly, would like to see that. Not to the part where they burn alive per se, but i think it would be cool to see a sword fight with flaming swords, which then explode in hails of fire and glass.

Just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong though, I do feel sorry for those kids, even if they did bring it on themselves. Thats gotta hurt, and it's hard to explain to the paramedics.

I guess it depends on your definition of "worst movie". Movie related to  the worst physical pain? Sure. Least entertaining? Not if the begining (and begining of the end, before the injuries begin) are like i imagine them.

If someone recreates it for an actual movie, that would be pretty cool.

Regarding the urban legend remark, this is probablt true. People are idiots.
Yours truly included.
