Title: OT: Favorite Cereal
Post by: Scott on January 26, 2006, 10:31:28 PM
Well, I'm here posting tonight at my command center eating a bowl of cereal called Peanut Butter Toast Crunch. A few questions for you all.

1) Do you eat cereal?

2) What cereal did you eat today?

3) What are your favorite cereals?

Here are my favorite cereals:

Raisin Bran
Peanut Butter Toast Crunch
Frosted Flakes
Honey Bunches of Oats
Honey Combs

Oh, and yes I'm a frequent eater of cereal at night and of course morning.

This is a trick question! The type of cereal one eats is directly correlated to the maturity level of the eater and a specific combination of Fruity Pebbles and Frankenberry will result in a permaban since that would mean you are four years old and shouldn't be on this site.. With that said I haven't eaten cereal in a couple of days but my favorites are:
King Vitamin (closest I ever got to Mr. T's cereal)
Honey Graham Oh's
Cracklin' Oat Bran (looks like dry cat food but you can't beat square cereal pieces with a round hole in them)
If anyone lists a cereal you are unfamiliar with, try this link

I usually will only eat cereal on the weekend. Hey, does milk give anyone else terrible gas?

My favorites:
Frosted Flakes
Cap'n Crunch
Cocoa Puffs
Fruit Loops

I never see it anymore but does anyone remember from the late 60's-early 70's a cereal called Quisp? It had a little alien guy on the box and the cereal was kind of a saucer shape. I used to love that stuff.

I eat cereal pretty much every day.

I used to eat all those sugared cereals when I was a kid but I've noticed that as I've grown older, I eat more natural unsweetened cereals.

My top 3 cereals are:

GRAPE NUTS (http://www.kraft.com/100/innovations/grapenuts.html)
(http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/999/phcf19if.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

SPECIAL K (http://www.specialk.com/brand/sk_kay/product_specialk.shtml)
(http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/7750/spkproductorignew3rp.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

And my all time favorite:
CHEERIOS (http://www.cheerios.com/index.asp)
(http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/9755/cheerios3kt.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

I never understood why they market Special K for women...it's a damn good cereal for people of both sexes.  I'll go through a box of it in less than a week.

I never put any sugar or fruit on my cereal...Yuck!
I eat my cereal plain...and it has to be in 2% milk.
Other types of milk just don't cut it.

I only use 1% milk and only use milk for cereal otherwise when I drink milk it's chocolate soy milk usually before or after going to the gym. Yogurt is ice cream to me though you can catch me occasionally in the summer at Dairy Queen.

I'm not a fan of cereal at all.  In fact, I couldn't tell you the last time that I ate any....

But, if it comes down to it, and I'm forced to eat cereal then I will normally settle with Honey Nut Cheerios.  I can't stand normal Cheerios; it's like eating a bowl of cardboard.  Maybe that should be their slogan:

Cheerios - It's like eating a bowl of cardboard....but it's good for your heart!!!!

It's not that I hate just cereal, I just don't like breakfast in general.  Sometimes I'll make a sasuage or bacon biscuit but most of the time I go without breakfast.

Raisin Bran or Frosted Mini-Wheats. I've tried them all really. Kashi cereals are by far the most disappointing. It's like eating bitter crunchy nuggets. Not even a bowlful of banana slices and kiwi fruit with milk could alleviate the unpleasant taste Kashi leaves in my mouth. Honey Nut Cheerios are great, but after a while, the powder on the cheerios starts to act like an abrasive and eventually rubs away a lining in my mouth. ouch.

as an aside, it's 8:49am here on the east coast, and there are five registered members hanging out on the board. What the hell are you guys doing up so early? I have class, but are we all students, or just lurkers of the early morning?.

I work the graveyard shift so I'm always up bright & early in the morning.
I can never go right to sleep after I get off work and I usually go to bed at noon and wake up at 8 pm.
I have to be to work at 10:30 pm.

And yes, I eat a bowl of cereal sometime before or after I sleep.

I'm not much of a breakfast person (coffee and doughnut on the way to work maybe), but I like cereal in the morning once in a while, or as a snack.

I think I benefitted from having parents who wouldn't buy the sugar cereal. My taste runs more into Muffets, Corn Flakes, Shreddies, Life, or my favourite -- Weetabix!

Scottie,

I'm here starting at 8 AM every morning.  I have to be at work, so I might as well stick around the site while getting paid.

Me too. I come in here around 7:30 or so and I figure I might as well check the board. Work is boring without the internet.

Haha, you slackers. Work without the internet is boring, school without the internet is improbable, and the internet without Badmovies.org is heart stopping.

10:26 east coast, and the board is flooded. Seven of us regulars are making their rounds with eighty guests lurking strong.

I wonder what time the board is most productive durign a typical day...

I don't think I ever though of this matter before... I don't have cereals for breakfast since I was a kid. Used to like some type, called "Pops", which is probably either discontinued or labelled with another name this days. I think it was marketed by Kellog's and consisted on unflated corn with a touch of honey. Anyway, my parents stopped buying them when they realised I was eating them without milk, as if they were popcorn, while watching TV.

Dude!  You're probably referring to Corn Pops!

Even though it's a swwetened cereal, I love it!

Probably, but back then they had a smiling bee on the box. And look what you made me do, between my last response and this one, I've gone to the supermarket and bought a box of fruit-stuffed cereals. You are evil, man, evil.

I eat Cheerios.  I need carbs in the morning, it's easy to pour them in the bowl (my brain doesn't function for the first hour of the day) and I'm trying to get at least some healthy stuff in my body.  And I eat them plain.  No sugar, no milk.  I can't stand soggy cereal.

When I was a kid, my favorite cereal was Quisp.

I used to eat Frosted Mini Wheat but everytime I ate it I had take a number # 2 really bad. Too much fiber I think. know I eat Fruit Loops or Fruity Pebbles

1: I used to... before I became lactose intolerant.

2: None. My healthy breakfast this morning consisted of leftover Mcdonald's cheeseburgers and double-stuffed Oreos. I eat one good tasting, bad for you meal a day and balance it with one healthy meal later on. I had shrimp, a ham sandwich and pineapple juice last night.

3: The ones nobody remembers, like Pac-Man cereal and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cereal. I like obscure cereals.

I'm pretty boring when it comes to cereal eating. I have a bowl of Quaker Oatmeal in the morning (the real ones, no instant). Put a little raw sugar and cinnamon on there.

I do eat Rice Krispies for a snack once in a while.

Does anybody remember when the names of cereals actually had the word sugar in them. Sugar Pops, Sugar Crisps. I guess about 1980 or so someone determined sugar was bad, so the cereal companies just took it out of the name. Kinda like Kentucky Fried Chicken becoming KFC.

For some reason the idea  of a bloated, farting, belching Odinn7 is somewhat disturbing, yet entertaining at the same time. (http://www.websmileys.com/sm/obscene/eck28.gif)

Had RAISIN BRAN tonight and last night had PEANUT BUTTER CAPTAIN CRUNCH. Bought a big box of PEANUT BUTTER CAPTAIN CRUNCH for $1.79. Thought I'd give it a try, but it's not as good as PEANUT BUTTER TOAST CRUNCH.
