I'm trying to remember the name of a low-budget sci-fi movie I saw several years ago. My guess on the year it was made would be around the late eighties to early nineties.
There are a few things I can remember. One is where a group of people in spacesuits are investigating an alien planet or space station. One of them is African American, and at some point he gets attacked. Next, he's convulsing on the ground with giant blisters appearing all over him.
In another scene, i'm remembering one of the victims inside a glass capsule. (like a human sized stasis tube that facehuggers were kept inside in Aliens.) I think one of the other characters approaches it to see what's inside, and then the person (I think it was a woman) suddenly wakes up and tells them to get out while they can.
The most memorable and distinctive part was toward the end. I think a girl and guy manage to survive, so they attempt to make their escape in a space ship. Their captain is alive too, so they ask him to join them. He replies with a somber "I can't" and shows his arm. He has a pulsating hole there, which probably meant he was infected. (The wound reminds me of the "game ports" from eXistenZ.) So they leave without him. Perhaps the story of the movie was that they were being possessed by this alien force and they ended up killing each other.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Mark

I have no idea as to what that movie is....but the end scene you described sure reminded me of the end of the newer Dawn of the Dead remake.
Remember the boat dock scene?
Definitely seeing the similarities there. :-) In this sci-fi movie though, i'm always remembering a bit where he reveals a pulsating wound, I think he pulls up his sleeve to show it.
Endless Descent, reviewed on this very site. :)

It's not a space ship, it's a submarine.
Wow akiratubo, it's looking like you might've solved it... i've been trying to figure this out for over 10 years. ;-)
It's funny how your memory changes things over time, it's more than likely i've got scenes intertwined with bits from movies like Sphere and Event Horizon.
I could sort of see R. Lee Ermey as the captain, but after seeing the trailer on videodetective.com I can see it's definitely the movie. It's got a half-second clip of that scene with him saying "I can't".
Now i've got to find a copy of this, along with another badmovies.org classic, Solarbabies. ;-)
Thanks!

Good catch akiraturbo.
