Title: Star Crash (1979)
Post by: Scott on February 19, 2006, 08:28:23 PM
STAR CRASH (1979) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0079946/) - Wow, now that's an appropriate title for this film. Just saw this film at Mr. Lobo's.  This movie is to much. Marjoe Gortner, Caroline Munro, David Hasselhoff, and Christopher Plumber star in this Italian Sci-Fi film that is trying to cash in on the STAR WARS (1977) thing I guess. The film just has a lot a crazy energy that turns this movie into pure fun. Now I must find a copy and play it on a regular size screen. You have to love this film. Wait till you hear the robot with a Southern accent. Without a doubt Caroline Munro is the star of this film who is much much better than Jane Fonda in BARBARELLA (1968) (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/barbarella/index.html).

I wonder how many takes they had to do before they had one where Christopher Plummer was able to deliver the line 'Imperial star ship, halt the flow of time.'  with a straight face....

Hehe, better than Barbarella?  My what a bold statement that is.  I've been keeping an eye out for this film since I saw the review here: how can one go wrong with a Hassel-the-hoff sci fi flick really?

Well, it has some of the lamest space fights I have ever seen, but at least it is better than Galaxina (now that's not saying much)

Speaking of Galaxina, a T-shirt shop in the city is selling a tshirt with a Galaxina poster on it.  I almost bought it as well.

Tried to watch this one when I was on my teens, I was like "The Hoff and that chick showng cleavage, it must be fun", but by the umpteenth time the spacefights revolved around christmas lights moving around I gave up.

Since then, I've always mistaked this one with "Battle beyond the stars", an error I solved a few nights ago when I saw BBTS and realised it is actually quite a cool film. Got a kick of George Peppard's cowboy impersonation, of Robert Vaughn pretending he was some kind of Samurai and of John Saxon fighting against his implanted arm.
