Title: Horror Host: Svengoolie
Post by: Scott on February 26, 2006, 11:10:02 PM
Was looking up Horror Host on the internet and found Svengoolie (http://www.svengoolieweb.com/) from Chicago television. While we have our own resident Horror Host Mr. Lobo (http://www.cinemainsomnia.com/) at badmovies.org be sure to check out Svengoolie's webpage especially Svengoolie's Drive-In Clips (http://home.comcast.net/~grotto1/RichKoz/Drive-InTheater.html). for great stuff from his show. Wouldn't it be neat to have more horror host like Mr. Lobo and Svengoolie make there appearances here on our messageboard.

rich is a great dude. if you e-mail him with a question, he'll always reply, and he's the kindest guy at meet-and-greets.

Maybe we should all E-Mail Svengoolie and tell him about this messageboard. Loved those clips on his website.

i used to tape his shows all the time when i lived in chicago. the time slot got moved around quite a bit.

rich used to host a kids show called "the koz zone" after his original "son of svengoolie" run, and he currently hosts "stooge-a-palooza", a 2-hour 3 stooges program. he's also very active in the commercial voice-over industry, and if you live in chicagoland, you probably hear him in a dozen commercials daily.

Toyman we need to see him here on the badmovies.org messageboard when he gets the chance. Did you see his singing clip on his webpage called NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD?

Svengoolies Drive-In Theater (http://home.comcast.net/~grotto1/RichKoz/Drive-InTheater.html) (scroll down to Sven sings N.O.T.L.D.)

This is the second Sven, right?
I first saw the Jerry Bishop original on a tape my friend Doug loaned me. He's a Horror Host fan.
Realy great stuff! The current Sven is good too.

For about 6 months ones, Here in Columbus, Ohio. We had a HH.
Mike Perkins had a character named Zack. He was an ambulance chaceing lawyer who inherited his Uncle's mansion, and had to show Unc's stock of B-movies to get the inheritance.
Perkins played Zack as an avarage guy, but his writting was clever. I wish the show had gone on, as i like smart word play and parodys.
Ah, well.
Gone are the days when the liveing room chair would eat people who sat in it when it was awake, the next door neibor, Mel Dunger , getting into another fude with Zack. The carniviorus lawn....
Fun times.

flange: yes- rich is actually "the son of svengoolie", directly inheriting the mantle from jerry bishop.

scott: as nice and accessible as rich is, i don't know how much time he'd have to spend visiting various boards. it's probably just easier for those parties interested to visit the svengoolie bulletin board. also, i'm not sure if i've heard his "notld" song, but every episode (with very few exceptions) includes at least one musical number, where sven and doug graves do a weird-al-esque song parody around the theme of the night's movie.

Toyman : Ah hah! That sound like Ron Sweed directly inheriting the Ghoul character from Ernie Anderson, who was Ghoulardi.

Man, i wish i could access these shows. Does Sven have tapes of his shows  available, like Mr. Lobo and Dr. Ghoulfinger do?
