Those wacky guys at DARPA are up to it again. They want to make cyborg bugs now to detect explosives. They tried this before with regular bees and it didn't work, so now they want to make a Robobug.
Make sure to check out the side notes about past goofy ideas for uses of animals in warfare. I really liked the ones involving bats and cats.

Boy, am I disappointed in the response to this post. I thought for sure that bombing the enemy with hibernating incendiary bats would have at least gotten a good chuckle and that dolphin thing with the CO2 syringes, man that's too stupid to be made up.
Ok, how long till he have time travel and teleporting technology?
We already have time traveling technology. The future came back and gave it to us. But if I tell you any more, they'll come for m. . .
The advantage of dropping a cat with a bomb strapped to it onto a boat instead of just dropping a bomb onto a boat would be ... ?
I think DARPA broughton the begginings of what became the Internet so I suppose they are allowed a bit of grace
How do I get a job coming up with these ideas? I don't even have to think hard to come up with ideas this stupid.
Training remorae to stick to enemy subs to slow them down.
Training flocks of pigeons to interncept incoming missiles, detonating them above their intended targets by providing a solid mass the missile cannot safely penetrate
Training spiders to spin webs between two electical contacts to provide hiddden 'passage sensors'
They Actually Tried That In WWII.It Wound Up The Bats Did More Harm To The US War effort Than It Did To The Japanese!!!During The Vietnam War,Some Of Our Troops Used Geese Instead of Dogs For Sentry Duty.Apparently,Geese Cause More Of A Rookus When The VC Approached Than German Sheperds and Dobermans Could!!Of Course,We Could Always Send The AFLAC Duck To Iraq and Afghanistan!!Kinda Figger That He Could Always Holler "AFLAC"When The Insurgents Approach!!!
