Title: Michael Nesmith's ELEPHANT PARTS (1981)
Post by: The Burgomaster on March 28, 2006, 07:04:15 AM
This is a decent grammy award winning "video album" from Michael (THE MONKEES) Nesmith.  It's sort of like a Saturday Night Live episode consisting of various comedy skits and songs by Nesmith.  Some of the comedy skits are really funny, while others are really stupid.  Some of the best skits are:

* A commercial for "Elvis Drugs" (including "All Shook Uppers" and "Blue Suede Ludes")

* A TV show called "Rock 'n' Roll Hospital"

* "The Pirate Alphabet" (which is sort of like a Sesame Street skit with pirates introducing letters of the alphabet)

* A trailer for a horror movie called "Have a Nice Day" in which the killer wears a yellow smiley face mask

It's best to watch this if you are in a silly mood (or have had a few drinks) because a lot of the humor is so corny that you won't know whether to groan or laugh.  But, overall, it's an enjoyable 62 minutes.

Live from New York, it's a Monkees member!

This sounds like a different version from the one I have on VHS.

Where did you find it?

There's also two different versions of Television Parts that I'd love to see get the DVD treatment.

licerbus:

I bought this from DEEP DISCOUNT DVD.  I'd also like to get my hands on DR. DUCK'S SECRET ALL-PURPOSE SAUCE, which is Nesmith's compilation of the best scenes from TELEVISION PARTS.

Ah...Dr. Ducks. That explains why "E parts" lacked "Zippy the chipmonk". A very dark parody of a childrens story...I liked it, but hey...
