Title: It seems some people here have a problem with remakes, but....
Post by: loyal1 on March 29, 2006, 09:58:56 PM
Has there EVER been a movie you saw that you just KNEW could be so much better if someone else took on the project?  Is there any movie remake you truly enjoyed much better than the original?

Heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps...

The list could go on and on...

My mind is going through every crappy comic book adaptation in the last ten years, and pretty much every remake/sequel motivated by money rather than a more noble need to get chicks and make cool movies.

Give an example.  Which is your fav comic and which team would you think would have done it justice.

Is there ANY remake you thought was better than the original...it doesn't have to be a blockbuster money making fim.

Godzilla 1998 could have been much truer to the source.

Well let's see.

As one fine example, the writer who wrote Daredevil, managed to also be allowed to write Elektra, and now Ghostrider is next.

That isn't exactly a glowing prediction for the movie.

I'm a big fan of the Mad Max series...well, except for the 3rd one which for the most part, I will deny the existence of. I believe, this movie could have been done way differently and wouldn't mind seeing someone try it.

I would like to see a true sequel to "Terminator 2: Judgement Day", prefeerably directed by James Cameron.

I would like to see a movie that ignored both "Batman & Robin" AND "Batman Begins", and started where "Batman Forever" left off.

I would like to see a Bond movie that ignores "Casino Royale" and start right where "Die Another Day" left off

I would like to see a Fantastic Four movie where at least Dr. Doom is true to the comic books.

I would like to see a movie that ignores "Highlander: Endgame" (just like "Highlander: The Sorcerer" ignored "Highlander 2") and brought back Connor MacLeod

I would like to see the Wayans Brothers take the helm of the "Scary Movie" franchise, ignore parts 3 and 4, and start where part 2 left off

I would like to see a big-budgeted, live action version of "Alice in Wonderland" that's based on Lewis Carroll's book, as opposed to American McGee's (sick and awful) videogame.

I would like to see a Catwoman movie that actually follows either "Batman Returns", or the Batman comic books

I would like to see another Evil Dead sequel, as opposed to a remake

I would like to see an "Alien" sequel that ignores parts 3 and 4 and starts right where "Aliens" left off (with Newt and Hicks ALIVE)

I would like a "Freddy VS Jason" movie where the outcome is decided solely on the merits of either fighters (as oppiosed to one side winning because it had help from the teenagers).

Also, ithe fight should happen entirely in the Dream World.

I would like an "Alien VS Predator" where the Predator teams up with NO ONE, and either extraterrestrial race actually wins (as opposed to the humans winning over both).

I would like a true sequel to "The Mask", preferably with Jim Carrey coming back.

Interesting you bring up 'Highlander: Endgame'. When that was released, I had been hoping that it was going to be only about the characters from the tv-series. Boy was I disappointed when they paraded Christopher Lambert again.

Demolition Man.  I liked it, but it just lacked enough tongue in cheekness and social commentary.  They were there, but to me it fell short.  Plus, get rid of the "Now all restaurants are Taco Bell" painfully obvious product placement.

Anything Uwe Boll has ever done or will ever do has my permission to be redone.  They could even do a pre-emptive redo before he even tries.  They could just find out his intent, predict it, and fix it.  I don't think anyone could f**k up videogame to movie quite like that man.

How about a "Doom" movie that actually follows the storyline of the videogame?
