This movie is included in the DRIVE-IN MOVIE CLASSICS 50 MOVIE PACK.
Mickey Rooney stars as B.J. Lang, an insane movie make-up artist who holds Luana Anders hostage in a warehouse full of old movie props, costumes, and mannequins.
This movie goes on and on pointlessly. Mickey Rooney spends most of the movie dressed as Cyrano de Bergerac. He recites lines, sings, dances, talks to mannequins, has hallucinations, and generally acts crazy as Luana Anders tries to escape. The entire movie takes place inside the same room and the only actors (other than the ones in Rooney's hallucinations) are Mickey Rooney and Luana Anders. That is, until Keenan Wynn shows up for a brief (and useless) guest appearance.
This movie gets more and more aggravating by the minute. Mickey Rooney almost never shuts up . . . it's like he has a constant monologue from the beginning of the movie to the end. Even more aggravating are the overused surreal images, excessive use of distorted lenses, and an experimental musical score that will have you climbing the walls.
I survived this experience . . . can you?????
Sorry for the post dig, but just remember seeing this topic, but did not have the set that this was included on at the time. I actually liked in some ways, but mostly strictly from an entertainment standpoint. I kind of admired Mickey Rooney in this role just because by only having two actors for most of the movie with most emphasis on Rooney, it really pushed him to make others want to keep watching, which in my opinion he succeeded in. The continuos slowing down and quickening of certain scenes does get a bit irritating at times though.
