Not certain what brought the extra traffic, but today has been very busy. I am looking at it and it all appears legitimate. There are just a lot of people reading the site since about 9 this morning or so.
I am making some adjustments to the server to see if I can improve the performance. I will do a bunch of checking, but please let me know if you start to get errors.
No errors here so far.
I had noticed that the board has been somewhat slow overall in the last couple of weeks.
Yes, the board has been kinda slow the past couple weeks off and on. While your other pages moved along quite well.
I don't know about everyone else here but the board has slowed to a crawl...especially when submitting posts. (Sun April 30)
(all other websites go quickly)
Anyone else?
I guess I should have read this before I posted about it in another thread, but several times today, the board has not loaded and I have ended up with an error page. It is presently doing fine (fingers crossed).
Ironically, I was loading up too many pages off the site and they were taking a while to load, and I was thinking to myself 'hurry up, why so slow' and the thread I was opening was this one.
But actually the trouble I've had is minimal at best, but could that be because I'm generally on at different times of the day than most [for US that is, normal times for here] Would that effect the speed at all?

Yes, the server is seeing more traffic at certain times.
It works a lot like water trying to flow down a pipe. If you have more water than the pipe can carry, it builds up. Eventually, when the flow of water slows down, the pipe can catch up and will not be running at capacity.
I just did some fairly major upgrading to try and correct the problem we have been having. Right now it looks fine, but please keep an eye out for anything broken or if you continue to see slowness.
So Andrew, can we refer to you as "The Plumber" from now on?
