I am about to sit down and watch Gamera the Invincible.

Gotta love monster flying turtles.

Showa Godzilla beats Showa Gamera, especially any Showa Gamera past Gyaos.

But Hesei Gamera vs H.Godzilla? Hmmmmmm.

We need a Millenium Gamera series to fight the Millenium Godzilla.

That would rock.  The Godzilla influences are obvious, though.  They even use the Godzilla roar once or twice.

I'm surprised nobody shot the kid though.  After the third time he 'just wants to see Gammera', I would have shot him myself.....

I tend to agree...

I liked some of Gamera's foes- Legion, Barugon, the original Goas- But I could never take Gamera seriously for some reason. I think it was those tusks. What turtle has tusks?

The Heisei era was Gamera's & Mothra's time to shine, but I'll take Godzilla- stiffness, blunders, rays & all- over the better looking, though seemingly overdramatic aforementioned monster franchises.

Gamera 3 looked great, but bored me to tears. We came to see a fight, not a dance!!!

GMK by contrast took longer to buildup, but the payoff seemed (to me) greater. Also, the fight between Godzilla & Baragon was something I always wanted to see.

I've viewed 3 or 4 GAMMERA films and have found GAMMERA THE INVINCIBLE  to be the best so far and it's in b/w.

Is GAMMERA THE INVINCIBLE the first GAMMERA film?

Yes.  At least I assume so.  It is in black & white and explains his origin (and blames the Russians)
