Title: Movies that I will not rest until I see
Post by: MysticalChicken on June 22, 2006, 07:12:54 PM
Most of these don't seem to be reviewed on this site, though...

The Child (aka Zombie Child, aka Kill and Go Hide):  I've watched the trailer for this movie like five times on Something Weird On Demand.  "I have friends.  They do favors for me."  "What kind of favors?"  "You'll find out." ... "I don't have to tell you ANYTHING!" ... "They're gonna come and hurt you both!  Hurt you bad!"

Blood Feast:  According to the trailer:  featuring lots of people not running away from an apparently really slow (according to reviews) psychopathic killer, and using the "hands in front of the face" move to defend themselves, and possibly saying "Noooooooooo!!!"  a whole lot.  Also features mass amounts of ketchup orangish-red paint blood.

The Stuff:  This one is reviewed on the site.

Blood Feast is a decent way to kill an hour and a half.  Not my favorite H.G. Lewis film, but not bad.

The Stuff - One of my favorite films of all time.  Anchor Bay put out a killer treatment of this film on DVD back in 2001 or so.  Not sure if they are still printing it.  If so, get your hands on a copy now.  Where else will you learn that us Americans won the Vietnam war?

The Child - I saw this on a VHS tape about 20 years ago - - not bad, but it probably isn't nearly as good as the trailer.

Blood Feast - This is a classic and is a very important movie that all gore fans should watch.

The Stuff - I saw this during its theatrical release.  Okay, but overall a forgettable movie that I have never had a desire to watch again.

Interesting choices.  I have not seen the 1st, but think that I have also caught the trailer before.  I have several Something Weird DVDs and the trailer collection.

"The Stuff" is a fun movie for me.  Not only does it lampoon consumerism, but you also have the awesome plot point of a non-dairy dessert that eats people.  Not to mention how it is discovered.  There is this old guy walking around in what I think is an old mining facility.  He sees the white stuff bubbling up and sticks his finger in it, then PUTS IT IN HIS MOUTH!  Ha!  The funny thing is, you can actually imagine some moron might do that.  A normal person would not, but I have seen enough morons over the years to never discount human stupidity.

The Stuff--another great Michael "Help me I've ingested mass amounts of novacaine" Moriarty flick, with a supporting cast including Paul Sorvino, Garrett Morris, Danny Aiello, and Andrea Marcovicci.  Larry Cohen helms this as writer/producer/director, as with many of his efforts.

Blood Feast is good, but 2000 Mainiacs....ahhhh....now theres a movie ! If you like HG Lewis, try the Wizard of Gore or the Gore Gore Girls. I didn't care for the Stuff too much...though I like alot of Larry Cohens movies like Its Alive and God told Me To (watching Andy Kaufmann go nuts as a cop inna parade is far out.) I really like his blaxploitation movies alot.Is he still doing movies?

RCMerchant,

Sadly Cohen is only really writing scripts now.  But, not the crazy type he used to do, now they're more mainstream.  He wrote both Phone Booth and Cellular which both made quite a bit of cash at the theater.

The most recent I've seen of Larry's was Original Gangsters-with all the old crew (Pam Grier, Jim Brown, Fred Williams...the whole dam crew!) Good movie!!! Check it out!
