Hey all. My memory is lapsing on me right now. I can't think of a single specific movie where there is a shot or two of girls or townspeople in terrible fright screaming at the local glittery monster about to attck them. I really need this badly. I'm putting together a project that incorporates found footage from archive.org and I really need the screaming lady or townsfolk to make a point about some stuff. There's nothing that says "this is bad!" than a screaming lady pointing at the sky. Can you help me?
Didn't 'June' do some screaming in MISSILE TO THE MOON?
I'm pretty sure there are women screaming in The Giant Gila Monster (http://www.archive.org/details/giant_gila_monster) and very probably in The Brain that Wouldn't Die (http://www.archive.org/details/the_brain_that_wouldnt_die).
No, the brain that wouldn't die doesn't have any screaming in it. But that movie is very probably the epitome of science gone wrong b-movies. With lines like "I've been working on something like this for weeks!" and the mad young scientist keeping a head alive in a tray and an Igor-like helper, and an evil, horrible monster locked away in a closet! It was way over the top and now my favorite bad movie.
Speaking of heads in trays, does not REANIMATOR have some screaming? I know there is some wimpering....
The Guyver had screaming on it and a scream queen wannabe even!
Any movie with Linnea Quigley?
The Brain that Wouldn"t Die had more laughing than screaming. The texas chainsaw massacre or Alucarda had major girls screaming. Fay Wray was the original scream queen.
Any Godzilla movie has somebody looking up and screaming.
"The Angry Red Planet" has Irish, the woman who appears to be able to disjoint her jaw when she screams.
The evil title monster goes after the screaming girl in "The Brain from Planet Arous" at the end while the hero swings at the balloon with his axe.
Also, many Troma films have someone screaming into the camera if memory serves. I would try out the "Class of Nuke 'Em High" or "Toxic Avenger" films.
I think that Barbara screams at a monster that gets ready to go after her in "Fiend Without a Face."
Daveblackeye, the "wannabe" scream queen in Guyver IS Linnea Quigley.
Attack of the 50 Ft Woman, King Kong movies, Godzilla movies, The Blob...I am sure there are many more. Even Superman has city floks screaming and pointing at the sky...but if your looking for B-movie style I think there's plenty on any mutant monsters attacking cities lol.
Have fun!
Not to get too technical here, but tell me, Scottie: Are you wanting any movies with women/crowds screaming, or movies on Archive.org (i.e., public domain movies) with women screaming?
Actually, I was looking for movies on archive.org that are in the public domain to use, but the movies listed above are probably going to work just fine. I've been through the archive.org arhives of public domain feature length films and there really aren't that many monster movies available. There's the Giant Gila Monster but I've had som difficulties with getting a good download. I tried the Brain That Wouldn't Die only to find no screaming (yes, mostly laughing), and The Killer Shrews only to find a woman screaming inside a chemical waste barrel. Funny unto itself, but not full-blown "oh my God there's a horrible monster attacking from above and my only way to express my fear is by screaming 'AHHHH!!!'" I'll try The Deadly Mantis next, King Kong, The Brain from Planet Arous, Attack of the 50 Ft Woman, and The Amazing Colossal Man next. I want to reserve Godzilla movies because Japanese people don't fit into my social commentary on America. Nothing personal, they just don't.
Scottie,
I know you probably have all you need by this point, but I wanted to plug IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE (watched last night). It has some good screams by Ellen, and several of them are at 'nothing.'
Once, she screams at a tree, and at another time, she screams at a child at the door wearing a space suit.
It's pretty funny, really, because when she DOES see the creature, she does NOT always scream.
Someone said Faye Wray in King Kong --
Would Ms. Wray be too recognizable for what you want to do? I mean, that's one healthy set of lungs -- I have to turn her down when I watch my Criterion --
