Yawn. By now I should be clever enough to avoid watching any movie directed by John Gullermin, the director behind De Laurentiis' "King Kong" and "King Kong Lives", but the premise was sort of interesting. Not the story, let me say that clear (it involves two adventurers trying to conquer a Mexican fort that hides a fortune in gold), but the idea of blaxplotation (the main lead is Jim Brown) meeting spaguetti western.
Anyway, the interest of the film dies right there. Writer Larry Cohen and director Guillermin carbon copy the most visible elements of spaguetti westerns (amoral characters that constantly argue against each others, massive body count, dirty landscapes, sudden ending) but miserably fail to go beyond the surface. Everything in the movie is pointless, boring and pedestrian, and not Jim Brown, who can be an impressive physical figure, nor Lee van Cleef, who is wasted in an hiperactive sidekick role, can redeem this one.
Avoid.
Because it has Lee Van Cleef in it it remains on my list of films to view. Haven't found a copy yet.
