Since my brother became interested in watching the DVD's of Back to the Future Parts II and III after I finally watched part I, I've finally complete the trilogy.
(re-cap)
Back to the Future. For years I've watched Part II without seeing I and III. I finally got around to part I and I enjoyed it a lot. It's cool seeing all of these "Marty" things first appearing in this. Though I was surprised that his "Chicken" weakness that appeared in part II wasn't in this. A really fun movie from the eighties.
4.5/5
Back to the Future Part II: The one that got me started on this series (and stayed there) for years. This one pretty much developed everything for me. The Delorian is pretty much how I always pictured it (when watching the first movie I didn't realize until the end that the Delorian could not fly, plus that the "Mr.Fusion" engine were in fact upgrades from the future). When I was kid I always thought the beginning segment from the future was the coolest part with the hover boards and growing pizzas. I think this is the weakest of the trilogy but it's none the less a very good and entertaining movie plus it adds more mythos to the characters (chicken!) . 4/5
BTW in the Cafe 80's scene who was that other t.v. waiter thing? One was Ronald Reagan, in the back there was Micheal Jackson, who the heck was the one going "YOU MUST TRY THE SPECIAL!"
BttF Part III: Though the first two movies were great, for some reason I was not as excited to finally get around to this as I was for part one. Sure I'm pretty okay with westerns but could you top off the fifties that had "Darth Vader from Vulcan" or 2015 with all the cool stuff? Actually they could because the magic was still there. It was awesome how Marty took up the name "Clint Eastwood", and I didn't mind at how Doc found love. The last few minutes of this movie are great, it was sad that the Delorian was destroyed but I was plenty amazed that Doc could build up a very awesome looking steam powered train. Oh well whatever this is a fun movie. BTW I forgot to mention that though the CGI in the last two movies are over ten years old, they look great to me, they look better than some of the stuff done today.
4.5/5
One of the best trilogies! We don't get movies like this anymore.
Going to keep these next two brief...
Kung Fu Hustle: A lot of fun, even though the main hero's power appears at the end. The fighting is a bit more cartoony but I'm fine with that, realistic still reigns supreme in my opinion. Oh yes and The Beast belongs in the ranks of the coolest kung fu characters (great intro scene XD!) And the final battle was slightly different than it usually is.
Clerks the series: It's a pity that this show was canceled after only two episodes and when there were only six made. True it's VERY different from the movies but I was expecting that. What I wasn't expecting was that I would actually laugh at it. Either episode two or four is my favorite.
And I have to end with this: "OH MY GOD! BEAR IS DRIVING! HOW THIS BE!!?"
4/5 good time watching it.
"Is it safe?"
Haha, Clerks the tv series, just ripping off other movies.
I actually have it on dvd and love it, but there is just that little something missing to make it 'super special'.
As for Back to the future, I love it, plot holes and bad points and all. Nuff said.
Also Kung Fu Hustle is great. I love that movie and Shaolin Soccer. It just has a great absurd sense of humour which I really would like to see more of in film.
"Handles! Who the hell is throwing handles?" Love the whole movie, but that scene clinched it for me. So cartoony, but they made it work perfectly. When the hero's buddy puts the knife blade BACK into the wound once he decides it's not his knife I was rolling on the floor. Like some kind of dark joke from a bizarro world Marx Brothers movie.
Would the "something special" be that when watching "Clerks: The TV Series" on network TV you knew there were lines that they obviously couldn't cross. Nothing in line with snowballs, 37, or "Best of Both Worlds". If it had been done for pay cable or even late night on Adult Swim or Comedy Central maybe it would have worked since the restriction on content would have been not as bad.
Well that something special probably is because it was a little too silly I think. They probably needed to tone it down slightly or make it a bit more coherant.
Some of the plot points, though really funny at times, were just pushed a little to far and a little too crazy. Shows like Family Guy pulled the random-quoting humour off a lot better [not that Clerks should have done differently of course]
But the whole concept of that show was great. I would really love to see more...
Hang on there is one bad thing about Back to the Future trilogy. We got two terrible NES games! ARGH!
