This is the first time that I have seen the beginning of INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN believe it or not. The film is like a comedy but also has some neat creepy scenes and some great aliens. Over all a great film, but I liked EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS alittle better because they tried to be serious, or shall I say they made it with a serious tone. Now I waited a long time to see this movie on AMC and when it finally came on again last night and I fell asleep at the end, so I still am not sure what happens at the end. I think that I once seen part of the end long ago where the aliens blow up when car headlight hit them. Is this how it ended? I don't fall asleep during movies because they are boring, but rather the only real time I have to see movies is after 10pm. Here is a small list of some 50's sci-fi films in t he order that I liked them starting with my favorite on top.
It came from Outer Space (quite creepy desert atmosphere)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (a great film)
Earth vs the Flying Saucers (Just right for my taste)
Invasion of the Saucer Men (fun)
The Day the Earth Stood Still (dry alien with nothing interesting to say, but I like the robot)
I liked invasion of the saucer men pretty much for the aliens themselves but the movie is pretty weak. The alien masks were made cheaply (the eyes are actually styrofoam balls for example) I want to tape a few films off of amc that they sometimes run but it seems they now have commercials which kind of upsets me considering they only had them in between films before.
Yes, their is a remake of INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN and that would be the Larry Buchanan/AIP-TV remake titled THE EYE CREATURES. Has anybody seen it? I have.
The monster suits were definitely much worse than "IotSM," but what killed it for me was the (even) lesser talent level than the original film.
Heck, the alcoholic cow always has given me a laugh.
Andrew (Stop that smooching!)
I saw that one on MST3K, under the title "Attack of the the Eye Creatures" (Yes, I know there are two "the"s-- That's the movie's mistake, not mine). Joel and the Bots' closing sketch, with their illustrated thesis that the filmmakers "just didn't care," might have been one of their best.
Vermin Boy got the title right of course. Please blame my head cold or whatever this curse malaise is. Back to bed for me.
Andrew
I love the Cable Guide's synopsis of this movie, which is, in its entirety:
"Space midgets."
Even though that's a tad misleading (the aliens are midgets in rubber martian heads, not straight-out midgets), there's no denying that, if that blurb appeals to you, chances are you'll enjoy the movie (I have a copy lying around somewhere, but I've only seen the tail end).

Boys, boys, you're both right. The actual title of the remake is THE EYE CREATURES. Like a lot of MST3K's movies, it was retitled (some weird legal reason? Remember how MAROONED became SPACE TRAVELERS?) and the added INVASION OF THE is a simple video burn - resulting in a new title and the hilarious double "the" Vermin Boy points out.
Oh,yeah. MST did that one. Good show, lots of prime riffing. As a sequal, along the lines of Zontar, Thing From Venus.
Space midgets? I've owned a copy of this movie for years, and watching it has always brought the same few things to mind:
1- There was always a 'make-out' spot in the 50's... Wow, Baby Boomers were all sluts.
2- If I had needle-fingers, I'd go around the zoo and pop all the kids' balloons. Evil...
3- The remake should have been: "Evil Brussel Sprout Heads and Disembodied Hands: How I Spent My Adolescence."
HEY! WATCH THE CRACKS ABOUT BABY BOOMERS!!! MY MOM ISN'T A SLUT!!!!
