This classic thriller is included in the DARK CRIMES 50 MOVIE PACK.

Businessman Edmond O'Brien discovers that he has ingested a luminous toxin and he only has a matter of days to live.  So, he sets off on a race against time to learn who poisoned him and why.

This is much better than the Dennis Quaid version.  Once O'Brien finds out that he has been poisoned, the movie speeds forward at a breakneck pace.  It has a great 1940s/50s look and feel, with lots of booze, dames, smoke-filled bars, and fast-talking suspects.  Highly recommended.

A very interesting film. If anybody here likes B&W thrillers, they'll feel right at home with this one. It has that unique atmosphere, and the plot is very original. Has been copied a thousand times with time, but never surpassed, although I enjoyed the remake with Dennis Quaid.

I recall seeing this on some late night TV show back in the eighties. They condensed it down to one hour, minus time for commercials, then took out all the audio & had some guy dub in a bunch of corny fake dialogue. Meanwhile, the host of the show was driving around LA trying to find the nonexistant night club where the protagonist got poisoned.
