This is a very underrated Tobe Hooper flick.  When I was a kid, it was often part of a drive-in double or triple feature with movies like LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT.  It has been released under numerous titles over the years.  I remember it playing the drive-ins in Massachusetts under the title STARLIGHT SLAUGHTER.

Neville Brand is actually pretty good as the owner of a run-down hotel in the bayou.  Occasionally, he goes crazy, hacks up his guests with a scythe, and feeds them to a crocodile.  Guest stars include Marilyn Burns (who screams a lot, just like in TCM), Carolyn Jones as a whorehouse madam, Stuart Whitman as the sheriff, a young Robert Englund as one of the locals, and Mel Ferrer as a man searching for his missing daughter.

If you haven't seen this, you might want to give it a try.  It's a moody, low-budget drive-in flick with plenty of blood, nudity, and humor.

This is not to be mistaken for the Italian cannibal film EATEN ALIVE (1980) directed by Umberto Lenzi which is good viewing. : )

Burgomaster I will put Tobe Hoopers EATEN ALIVE (1977) on my list. Looks like Netflix has both EATEN ALIVE films.
