From ready Judy:
Growing up I saw a horror flick that I cannot remember the name of...the monster looked like a giant bat (complete with string you can see it dangling from). The scene I remember most clearly was someone sitting at a desk in front of a window, and the bat-like dangler comes bouncing through the air and settles on the desk guy's head--then one sees blood dripping down desk-guy's neck as he is trying (unsucessfully) to pry the stuck bat-thing off his head, and then slumps over (leading the audience to believe he is dead). Might you have seen the same 'b' or (worse) 'Z' grade movie and happen to recall the name of the movie/creature? I've been trying for a couple of months now to find the name of this film. It came out during the same 'era' as the tingler with Vincent Price.
What comes to mind here is the original "Not of this Earth," but I have not seen it in years. Any other ideas?
Hmmm, that DOES sound familiar, especially the bat dangling by a clearly visible string. I can picture it in my mind, but I sure cannot put a title to it.
I'll be interested to learn what this one is, also.
Could it be It Conquered the World?
Yes! I'd vote for "It. . .", as the reader is saying "bat-LIKE", and those things were pretty awfully done --
Really awful film -- must watch it again soon!

Actually, it might be Zontar: The Thing From Venus (It Conqured the World's remake). Zontar was a giant, bat-like thing. In both movies, there were smaller monsters "flying" around on highly visible strings but only Zontar had anything that could be called a "giant" bat.
Ah, but the flying creatures that go after people really are flying plastic lobsters.
Based on a foggy memory, I still think that "Not of This Earth" is still the best bet.
Remember the brain-suckers living beneath that table on Star Trek? They flew through the air with visible strings as well . . .
