Title: Pharaoh's Army (1995)
Post by: Scott on November 10, 2006, 07:35:16 PM
PHARAOHS ARMY (1995) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0114122/) - Very good gritty Civil War film starring two people I never heard of Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. The story is about a group of five Union soldiers sent out to round up some food from Southeners. They come across a home of a mother and her young son and as they are taking all of their chickens, ham, and a cow one of the Union soldiers has an accident which causes them to stay in the home. Hostilities errupt, but smoothed over by an understanding Captain. If you like Civil War films then you will like this one for sure. Kris Kristofferson has a very small role as a Southern Preacher. Guess he was hired to put a name on the cover, but don't let that fool you. This is a good movie.

Scott,

You may have never heard of Chris Cooper, but I promise you've seen him - alot.

Take a look at his IMDB and you'll know exactly who he is.  As a matter of fact, you saw Jarhead recently, right?  He's in that film as one of the head Marines that gets the troops all riled up once they get to Iraq.

Skaboi, they have done a lot of film work since 1995. Many noteable titles. Both were good actor/actresses in PHARAOHS'S ARMY. Never seen or heard their names before.

Skaboi is right, you may not know Chris Cooper's name, but he is one of the best and busiest character actors working these days. He's one of those actors now who I actually perk up when I see his name in the credits.

Ever seen Lone Star? Great understated leading man role for him.  He was also great as a corrupt government agent in The Bourne Identity. Jarhead has been mentioned. What is so great about him is that he seems to vanish into the role, a cliche that actually applys here. When he was in Adaptation, even people who were fans of his had a hard time recognizing him.
