Wasn't Vann watching this movie in "The Minus Man"
We watched that movie in science. FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER!
Yeah! I remember watching this in science and thinking it was a laugh riot! A must see! You can get your science teacher to show it and say its educational! HAHAHA
Hey Review Guy,
Thank you enormously for taking the time to write that review. I've never seen this docu, yet you kept me guffawing for the last ten minutes. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Now I know what that kid at the rave last Friday was talking about when he said he had some "killer toad" for just $15.
Toad: RRRRRRRIIBIT! RRRRRRR-RRIIBITT!
Mouse: Sqeak-Squeak!
Toad: RRRIIBITTT-P'TOONGGG! THWIIPP!!
Mouse: Squeak-Squeaaauuggghhhhh-Gaaauugghpphpmmmttt!
Toad: GULP-GULP!
Mouse: mmpphhttttbbrmmmm!
Toad: Gulp! Buhhurrrphh! Yum-Yum!
Whoohoo, I'm a bipedal amphibian!!!
This has shown up on Animal Planet a few times, and it's a riot. Especially the little girl playing with one of the biggest, fugliest toads you will ever see.
Man, this is an entertaining movie, reading the review brought back lots of memories from when my science teacher showed it. I laughed and laughed
Ha! Funny as hell. But we are coming to kick your ass!
Disturbing.. my biology teacher showed it to us in class too. was that man smoking toad?
Sweet! I have GOT to get me one of THOSE!
AMAZING MOVIE!!!!! seriously, i find it very funny and not worthy to be on the "badmovies.org" website. a bit similar to Christopher Guest movies (ie. Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman), but acutally a legit documentary.
2 thumbs up
highly recommended
Yeah, this flick is awesome. I teach AP Biology and show it to my students when we need a break. They'll remember this movie for many years to come, I'm sure. Especially the mouse-eating toad part. *shudder*
I had to watch this for an animal behavior and conservation class w/ University of Chicago. It was the most... entertaining educational videos ever created! I absolutely love it!
Its pretty cool, not your typical documentary
Caught this on SunDance Channel today. I really got a kick out of the guy in the van that goes out of his way and drives like a maniac to run over the toads to hear them explode. The song playing while the little girl played with the toad was entertaining also.
I saw this movie when it first came out in Brisbane. My friends and I were rolling around with laughter. Would you believe 15 years later, I'm telling my partner about this movie - that it's a must see. I hired it and her comment in the first 5 minutes is - "that's our farm" Whoa!
This is my favourite DVD of all time. I keep Cane Toads as pets. Being a toad lover though, I can see why the Australians get as emotional as they do about them. Check out the free movie at http://www.cane-toad.com/.
If you have any difficulty downloading it, email me.

I just watched this movie in my AP environmental class at school. I loved it! The song playing while the girl was playing with the toad was so funny! Yeah, GREAT movie!!! It totally seemed like a joke!
Greatest movie about Cane Toads! "I enjoy sitting on my back porch and watching them mate." Haha, this movie is the best educational video ever!!
We first saw this movie in Geog last year and we're still trying to work out whether it's serious or not! The man that likes to watch the toads mate on his lawn absolutely killed us! And the druggie that smokes the toad! An absolutley wonderful piece of cinematography!! Classic.
I watched this video during a bus trip in the Outback. The song 'Cane Toads are Comming' pretty much sums it all up. We have a Bufo marinus at work and I want to name it Dairy Queen!
Wow...I gotta see this one!
This is an absolutely hilarious movie!! We've watched it twice now and die laughing every time. Our favorite is the Doctor whose carrying a grudge against the toads because they killed his cat, darnit!! And the old guy in his yard at night talking about how their his friends! This is an awesome documentary and totally worth watching again!!
Totally awesome! I think one of my favorite parts was the car driving down the road, running over the cane toads. And the sound they made, WOW! I want to go to Australia just so I can drive over cane toads!
We watched it for a film requirement for a college class. The last film we saw was a 2 1/2 hour silent film, so we were expecting some dreadful documentary with droning narrators and etc. The entire audience never stopped laughing. I think my absolute favorite was the guy in the van. As was mentioned, the popping sound was incredible and downright hilarious.
You know you've done something right when all you have to do is stick in a brief shot of something that isn't funny and your audience cracks up anyway. So it was with the druggie in the credits... nothing else needed. Great film.
I watched this doco once, but not for fun. I watched it in a High School Geography class, and while watching it I realised it was almost verbatim of a book which my Mum owned. Eventually I realised that I had unwittingly given the Book of the Film to my Mum for Mother's Day. We didn't realise it was the book of a film until I saw it, and frankly it's almost word-for-word. Later on, in Health class, we were asked to name a recreational drug, and I immediately said 'bufotine! You get it from cane toads!'
I've been to Queensland. Toad whacking is a favourite pasttime over there, and my uncle uses them as golf balls. Whee!
I loved this movie when I was.... 5. I still watch it to get a kick out of it.

I saw this movie in my AP Biology class... it was hysterical. Truly a movie to remember - and, hopefully, watch again one day.
I think there are two versions of this documentary out there, because the one I rented and watched years ago on VHS had the swerving-car-popping-frog sequence, and the once I recently rented on DVD from Netflix didn't.
I think this is the funniest documentary I have ever seen. I've played to the students in my Biol classes and they love it!! Especially the cane toad humping the flat, squashed dead cane toad in the middle of the road!
We watched the movie in Zoology and the Biology Society at Adelaide Uni and it's very funny! The opening scene with the VW Combi sets the tone for the whole MV and the little girl who puts a toad in a dolly dress is a real scream. :bouncegiggle: so i give it a  and say everyone should get a view of it
The Horror of the Cane Toad marches on:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17809210/
"The poisonous toad is responsible for killing native animals from snakes to small crocodiles."
I saw this thing on Yahoo News as well. That is a fig bucking toad. One has to wonder how long it will take for SciFi to put out a movie about huge cane toads eating a bunch of annoying teenagers on spring break in Australia.
Just where do you get this bad boy? I sure don't think Blockbuster would have a clue.
Andrew : For God's sake, don't give them creeps any ideas! Let the Tremors team do it....then i'll want to see dat!
Lived a few misspent years of my youth in Tully; memories of mashing cane toads in the church yard next door. Got in great trouble later for the stink of death! Will have to share the film with my brothers over the holidays. :twirl:
Its too bad someone dont make a document about when they brought STARLINGS into america
Look what happens when you import one creature from one country to another you make a awful ducumentry
The fact that my professor before starting the movie said, "this movie selection is highly recommended stoned" told me right away this movie was ridiculous...
My fav. part is the old man getting emotional about them as friends, and the old lady looking up to the ceiling to gather herself before talking about her bond with her "mates", the Cane Toads.
I wish I remembered the name of another movie I saw in my Biological Invasions course...it's a Matrix vibe about invasive species where this girl travels back to when animal and plant life existed...because she is the only one in society who can see life other than their underground bunker in her dreams...she meets a black ecologist man and decides to throw the traveling glass away and live forever in the past...
It's some University movie that won awards...if ANYONE knows the name of it please let me know!
~Cane toads are comin', cain toads are comin',
Main roads are buzzin' with the cane toad blues!~
This movie was badass.
Saw this more than a decade ago...will never forget little girl playing with the toad like a doll.
We had significantly smaller toads as science class pets who would only pee rather than poison anyone, but who were also quite the little lovers. The act would actually trigger a series of quick high-pitched chirps from the toads, a look of disbelief almost too stunning for laughter from the students.
Australia-what a great country.
I too saw this movie in science.
I plan to download it and get baked and watch it again!
A friend tracked it down for me.
All who watch it love it...they can't believe what they've seen mind you... :bouncegiggle:
:bluesad: You..*sniff* You killed the little mousy! *sob*
Gee! we already have 4 of the most poisonous animals in the world here lets try to make it 5!!! OOPs it didn't work the toads aren't poisonous enough. It seems like these toads reproduce at will, and boy do they have alot of will!
