On January 28, Discovery channel will grace us with a little look into the future. They will look 50 years into the future based on the predictions of the greatest minds of our time. I'm not giving any opinions about the documentary in this topic. I'm sure it will be very insightful and eye-opening. Rather for this topic, I'd like to discuss what possible changes I feel await us 50 years in the future.
I'n sure a lot of technological marvels await us in the future. But there will also be a lot of bad things to come as well. For instance, it is estimated the total human population on earth by 2057 will be over 10 BILLION. I cannot imagine living in such a nightmare world.
Any other opinions?
Well, one of the 10 billion won't be me. No one on neither side of my family has lived to be over a hundred, and I don't expect to, neither.
I would be 93 then, and if I got the genes from the Dutch part of my family, I might have a shot at it -- I think my Grandma's cousin died when he was 97 -- just after having taken his motorcycle apart in the living room.
In fifty years I think there will be a permanent moonbase, and that humans will have visited Mars. Both of these will be international efforts.
^ Who cares about that where are our freaking hoverboards? I'm giving them another 8 years to get them to us.
Paris Hilton will have been just as pointless and worthless as Zsa Zsa Gabor (who she reminds me of) for over 5 decades. Maybe she'll slap a cop in her old age also.
Except that in Zsa Zsa's movies, she kept her clothes on.
Yeah but back in her prime I would have actually wanted to see Zsa Zsa necked, say around her Queen of Outer Space phase.
Besides these days competition in the untalented celebrity attention whore arena is much more competitive. Getting naked and/or arrested is almost minor league stuff these days.
I'm pretty sure I won't live to 94,but my kids will be around(I hope). Personally, if the earth is still inhabitible by then,it will be a f#cked up mess. I see clones as slaves, robots gone bad,and disease running rampant. And rats.Lots of rats. But I want a flying saucer, dammit!
Ever the optimist I see an end to disease, poverty, and pollution. A faster than light drive for starships, colonies on other worlds, alien races as our friends, and in general a great and glorious future for our descendants, but then that's just me.

Fifty years ago this picture would have been from a bad sci-fi movie, not a Space Shuttle mission.

That's what we call the annihilation of the human race. It would cure all of our ills. :tongueout:
This is the only food that will be available.....
So eat healthy for your kids...
