Title: Some new dvd's to me..
Post by: Duckmancgy on January 23, 2007, 03:05:30 PM
So I just got back to work from Lunch, and have with me a little bag of movie goodness that I thought i would share with you.

The Tremors Attack pack. it was part of a 2 for 30 deal.. so i splurged.. hehe

also picked up Evil dead, and day of the dead 2: contagium for 10 bucks for the both of them.

This day of the dead 2 is billed as part prequel, part sequel, and total gut-ripping, gore-spewing homage to the original!..

hmmm so sounds like a winner to me.
Jeremy

**EDIT**

I know that this has nothing to do with the original, and I have read the reviews saying it is garbage.. But thats alright with me.  Considering ofthers that I have in my collection, 5 bucks doesn't feel so bad..

Course ask me again after I have watched it.. hehe.

If you can, drop off a post after you watch "Day of the Dead 2" - that is one tha I keep thinking about purchasing and am interested in hearing what others think.

I've always avoided Day of the Dead 2, it looks really bad, from what I heard it hardly has anything to do with Romero's movie too.

Well I will do a better write up after the weekend when I can put some serious effort into it, but from my first run through last night, it has nothing to do with the romero flicks at all, which is what i suspected.  Basically it is a weird offshoot story.. that could kinda happen before the romero films happened.. but timewise it doesn't if that makes sense.

The dialogue and acting leaves a lot to be desired, but i am not so much a stickler for that.  the special effects are a wonder.. the skin damage is dried glue that you can peal off in layers.. and the cg that occurs is pretty crappy.

***Possible spoilers***

The main super zombie looks a lot like bad ash from Army of Darkness, except more red.  And he acts less like a zombie and more like a werewolf, but such is life.  Also when the virus escapes the thermos, it looks a lot like it should be coming from Brain Damage, it consists of floating colours.

Anyways for the price I paid I wasn't exactly expecting the world.  I did laugh though a good portion of the movie which is always good I guess.. And it wasn't the type of laughing to stop me from crying either.. I wouldn't say it is a staple Zombie flick, but it does have some fun.  Perhaps you should watch it before buying if thats possible, either that or keep the price low to compensate for the lack of in depth zombie action.

Overall I would give it a 2.5/5 as I have seen worse, and quite a few that are better.  Like I said I will do a more indepth write up over the weekend, and post that .  Sorry for the novel.

Unfortunately, your thoughts seem to match most that I have read about the film.  Oh well, zombie films are like baby salmon.  You make millions of them, so that a couple can actually make it to respawn.

Ha, imagine a movie with zombies (human), but with the brains of salmon.  That would make for some interesting shots as the zombies struggle to swim upstream.
