Title: ball zooms about killing people

What is this movie! I saw this hysterically silly movie that had a big white ball flying abotu killing people. It was making weird noises, suposed to be threatening but it was just hysterically funny! It kinda walked about too. It gets shot and goes spaztic zooming about going more and more flat. I think it might have been a space movie??? That all I know :S

Please help! :)

The first thing that comes to my mind is Phantasm.  Do you know what time-frame the movie was made?

DARK STAR would be my guess.

It does sound a lot like DARK STAR, but ball doesn't actually kill anybody.
