Question lingers in the air: WHY WERE THESE MADE???????
 :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:
Whoever was doing the choreography in Death Warrior actually had some degree of talent. Too bad it was wasted by shoddy shooting, editing, performances and undercranking.
I have heard about the Turkish Superman, but is that really it??? I'm kind of in disbelief...
I've seen the Turkish Star Wars one (actually called "The Man Who Saved the World"). They're actually filming a sequel to it very soon. I'm almost tempted to pick up the DVD, simply because this movie looked perfectly fitting for a night of B-movies, beer, and snide remarks.
UH...uhhh....uhhhh...HOLY SWEETMOTHER OF MERCY!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!the horror...the horror....
I f iwas to watch the entire Turkish Star Wars,I would have to take up drinking again...and perhaps never,ever,stop...
Leave it to you RC to get me laughing. :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: Thanks...
I'm a cartoonist...it's what I do. :teddyr:
No wonder you get me laughing.....so am I. I Just haven't drawn in a long time. The last time was a cartoon mural in a pool hall, in a restuarant. That was 28 years ago.
(Trevor shudders) :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:
Those are not really so bad (Trevor shudders again) but if you really want bad, how about this?
The SA film industry went through a bit of a boom period in the middle to late eighties in light of the generous subsidies that the then govt. gave out. So much so in fact that fly-by-night production companies were making low cost (and mostly low return) films, not paying their crews and casts and generally committing fraud left right and centre.
One company came up with an SA version of The Karate Kid in which a kid is bullied and has the seven colours of crap kicked out of him, until an arcade game (I think it was Kung Fu Master) teaches him karate. No Mr Miyagi and Daniel san here, just a motherboard.
Its' title? Umfana We Karate, a literal translation of The Karate Kid :bouncegiggle:
You can get a nice double-bill of Turkish cinema on DVD in the US from Mondo Macabro, along with a comprehensive 50 minute documentary! It includes those classic titles 'The Deathless Devil' and 'Tarkan versus the Vikings'. (My Review (http://mondo-esoterica.net/Deathless%20Devil.html)).
I didn't watch the clip, but if it's the Turkish Star Wars, the sequal has been filmed and is currently screening in one lone cinema in my state. I am still considering whether or not to make a bit of a trip, but that depends on the interest.
I mean, why the hell not?
I so want that crazy kung-fu movie. The clip I saw alone was one of the funniest things I've seen in the past year. The Starwars ripoff also looked hilarious.
Yep, they belong to the "so bad that they're F*CKING HILARIOUS!" category, but i am still conserned about the effects on mental health
I believe that Dunyayi Kurtaran Adam (The Man Who Saved the World) is the greatest film of all time.
Seriously.
It is The Movie, as far as I'm concerned.
Thank you for those clips!!! Really inspirered me. They might very well be my next DVD purchase!!!
BTW, i'm also a published cartoonist... Weird huh!?
Did anyone else notice at the very end of Death Warrior that they blatantly stole sound from John Carpenter's The Thing? By blatantly, I mean you can still hear the characters from The Thing screaming in the background.
Can one of you kind harted souls PLEASE! tell me were I can buy Death Warrior.
