Was the octopus some sort of police? He carried a gun, badge and a stupid helmet. And since when have walrusses had huge fins sticking from their back? AND SINCE WHEN HAVE PEANUTS(no Charles M. Schulz references, please) TALKED AND WALKED???

My theory is Mr. Peanut, like several actors before him (think Nick Adams), while riding high on success became heavily involved in drugs, alcohol, and loose women. Several embarrasing incidents caused him to lose his endorsement deal with Planters Peanuts. Desperate for work, he moved to Japan and took the only job offered to him: a disturbing kiddie show whose title loosely translates as "Gimme Gimme Octopus".
After realizing the depths he had sunk to he cleaned up his act and was rehired by Planters.
One day Mr. Peanut will be able to look back at all this and laugh... but not quite yet.
Of course this theory is shot if that really isn't a peanut, but a pear with bad skin.
I think Mr. Peanut is part of some British plot to retake America for its empire. Together with Batman's archenemy the Penguin, they want to make the world safe for top hats and monocles again.
