Title: Curse of the Komodo
Post by: raj on March 24, 2007, 10:27:26 AM
Truck's in the shop (clutch is going) so I'm forced to spend the day at home.  Curse of the Komodo is on Sci-fi at the moment, gawd the dialogue is horrible.
Mmmm, bad movie.

The film uses the Queen Ann Cottage and Coach Barn of "Lucky" Baldwin's estate which is now the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Garden, been there many times, kind of blows the whole movie for me.

My take (http://tarstarkas.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=86&Itemid=46)

It is also the same set and script used for Komodo vs. Cobra and AI Assult, all three by the same director.  YourVideoStoreShelf has a podcast interview with him, but I can't find it since he did a site redesign.

I've not seen the original Komodo, though.

One of my favorites.  I actually liked the characters, they've all got character and almost everybody is sympathetic.  And it's got boobs, cheesy dragons, explosions, not-so-seamlessly integrated  stock footage, you name it.

Only problem is: basic cable = no boobs  :bluesad:
You could see right where they chopped out the Glorie-Anne Gilbert gets nekkid for a dip in the pond scene.

Look on the bright side - you still get to enjoy Glorie-Anne's amazing acting talent  :teddyr:

The original Komodo has one thing going for it - excellent effects, which were done by some guys from ILM if memory serves.  The director is a special effects guy also, who got his buddies to do it very cheaply.  I remember reading about it in Sci Fi magazine back in the day.

Nothing special otherwise, but it is worth watching once just for the effects.
