Title: Creepshow
Post by: Egg on April 02, 2007, 10:05:22 PM
What could've been a cool concept for a movie is ruined by stupid stories. A zombie comes back from the grave wanting a piece of cake?! WTF?! Or how about the stupid skit with Stephen King and the extraterristrial moss?! I liked the one with Ted Danson and Leslie Neilsen but it turns out to be another revenge story. And I hear Creepshow 2 is even worse.

the point of Creepshow was to be funny and bizzare much like the EC Comics that it's based off

I thought Creepshow 2 was Bad Crap.

But the first was excellent!

"It's Father's Day, Bedelia!

I WANT MY CAKE!    Rrrrrah!  *crunch*"

duuuuuuuuude, STFU. first of all they arent skits, its supposed to be like a comic book and how you didnt know that blows my mind completely. its supposed to be campy fun and it succeeds on every level. like Saint Mort said it's almost like a homage to E.C. comics in a way. Sounds like your unimaginative to me, if you cant have fun with this movie how can you have fun with any movie on this site? just stay away from creepshow 2 if you didnt like the first one, i garuntee you wont like it. sorry that really aggravated me, i just dont see how even if you didnt like it, you cant appreciate it for what it is.

Creepshow is one of my favorite moviez of all time. I can understand why some people wouldnt like it, though. Anthologies arn't for everyone. But yea, i thought it was genious. The One with King in it was good for it I think because it was a good humorous contrast to the rest of the film. I love it when King says "Well I'll be dipped in s**t if that aint a meteor!"

I havent seen  Creepshow 2 yet, and don't really want to see Creepshow 3 coz I heard that King and Romero have nothing to do with it. Doesn't that SUCK?

I love Creepshow to death!  I wish that The Crate was used as the last story though, as it's the best of them all.

I agree.  The best part of that story is the fantastic visions that Hal Holbrook has of murdering his wife.  Absolutely hilarious.

It's one of the few (if only) movies in which you get to see Leslie Nielsen acting like a murderous vindictive bastard.

Where is the special edition of the 1st Creepshow anyway?  The current old bare bones DVD has terrible picture quality.

I'm going to have to go and disagree with you there.... ummmm yeah

Actuallly I agree that The Crate was the best one but I like how it ends with the infamous cockroach closure (hopefully that's not too much of a give away)

I saw this in the theater with my dad when it came out and we both enjoyed it quite a bit. I loved how the opening and closing shots to each segment were duplicated with a comic book panel. I got a kick out of Jordy Verrill's imaginings, especially the angled shot of the quack doctor rolling on his chair.

"This is going to be extremely painful, Mr, Verrill."

Creepshow is awesome for what it is, a tribute to the old EC horror comics, but I'm guessing that's the problem with some people's opinions. They have no idea what those are, or the kind of impact they had on horror media (King's Danse Macabre is a great spot for this sort of info, although I grew up in the 70s-80s and was already familiar with EC, and the Warren mags that were it's immediate successors). It was more of a personal project of King and Romero's, and destined to be lost on a lot of people, all the more later on due to the "generation gap".

Creepshow is most definately awesome! The way the individual stories blend with the comic book and the sub story with the kid and his dad Tom "Thrill Me" Atkins was great!

Fathers Day was a great opening story. With the amount of time they had for the segment i think they conveyed the story well.

The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill (sp) i didn't care for as he wasn't a "bad" person and didn't really deserve what he got.

The Crate this one was fantastic! just the interaction between Hal and Adrianne was great and "Just tell it to call you Billie!" was probably one of the best lines!

I always wondered what happened to Fran after Dawn of the Dead and doggone if she didn't wind up buried up to her neck for daring to cross Leslie Nielsen! plus it was nice to see Ted Danson get his too, it's just too bad Leslie didn't realize that in a Romero/King movie death is usually not permanent.

I also didn't care for the roach story but again it was well done and the acting was believable i really did hate that character, yay roaches! :tongueout:

Creepshow is also one of my favorite movies. I love the lighting and soundtrack. My least favorite would have to be the last "short" They're Creeping Up on You. My favorite is "The Crate" obviously.

I love Creepshow as well. I've never seen Creepshow 2, but I'm more than a little puzzled as to why it got a Special Edition DVD release with all the bells and whistles, while the more popular and well-known first film is still only available in that darn cardboard snapper case bare-bones release from Warner.

Thats a good question, why would they do that? I mean, the box doesnt bother me, but why make a special edish of the 2nd one?

they are both good movies IMO. theyre not scary, but they are alot of fun with lots of different characters that stand out.

-the crate is awesome, it scared me as a child.
-the cockroach story is very disturbing. even in these desensitized times.
-isnt that the only serious role leslie neilson has ever played? i think he plays that role pretty well.
-"thanks for the ride, lady......."

No, he played serious dramatic roles for many years (FORBIDDEN PLANET) before his gift for comedy was discovered in AIRPLANE.

One day I was babysitting my friends six year old daughter and we decided to go to the local movie-plex to see ET. The theater was packed with mommies and their little creatures. Well, the coming attraction before the picture was for Creepshow, featuring a terrific close-up of Fluffy's wide open, razor-toothed slavering maw accompanied by Adrian Barbeau's blood-curdling screams! I don't think there was a single little rug-crawler that wasn't bawling or screaming their lungs out after that little treat.  That was the best. (Kid thought ET was boring and wanted to see Creepshow in the other theater instead.)

I liked the Crate and the The one with Lesile Nelson.

"The Raft" from Creepshow 2 freaked me out first time I saw it.

That is about the only memorable thing about part 2, watched it again recently and it even that scene didn't hold up well. The first one is great, part 2 really sucks, part 3 havent seen it and dont plan on it.

"Creepshow 2" does star George Kennedy, Dorothy Lamour, and Stephen King, besides that, the first one is better. Never seen the third one, so I can't comment on that.
