I saw a show the other night on the food network about the Hot Dog. Some of what they said people put on their dogs - such as cole slaw - suprised me. I figured it might make for an interesting topic of discussion, so...what do you prefer on your hot dog, and why?
Like mine with relish mustard and ketchup. Boil those beefy jumbos, then put some American cheese on the bun, slap the dog on there and then put it under the broiler till the bun gets toasty. Mmmmmm! Mmmmmmm!
I like chili dogs too, with onions and cheese, but they don't like me.
I like them cooked on a grill, with CHARCHOL....with musterd, hot peppers ,saurkraut, onions, and horseradish! I fired up the grill yesterday and made burgers and a whole messa hot dogs...mmmmmmmmmm....!
My favorite has gotta be the old chili cheese dog(with real cheese not that cheese-whiz stuff).
I also like to boil the hotdogs in beer and then throw the on the grill.
My Top Five toppings, in order of preference:
Mustard
Onions
Sauer Kraut
Cheese
Ketchup

Makes mental note to try this. Sounds great!
While you're waiting for your beer-soaked weiners to cook, he's an amusing time-killer from "The Sneeze":

'Spaghetti-O's' and a Barbie Head.
Delicious!
Cheese and Ketchup. Wrap the weiner in a cheese slice and then apply ketchup.
Ketchup, mustard and cheese.
I had never thought of adding bacon bits before but that does sound good.
I might have to try that sometime.
Chili dogs are the bomb but I can't eat them without taking some kind of acid reducer first.
They really do a number on my stomach if I don't.
Heartburn city.
Mustard, ketchup, relish, cole slaw, chili.
In response to Raffine that is one wierd pic.
Also when ya do try boiling the hotdogs in beer remember when my family tried this they poured a couple cans of brew in with some water. I'm not sure if beer boils that well and I don't really recomend trying to find that out.
And don't forget to only boil them until tender. Then throw them on the grill.
In one final note tell me how it turns out.
We tend not to have hotdogs, instead going with Bratwurst. In fact, that was the meal tonight, because Jenna asked for them. For me, they usually go with stone ground mustard (Inglehoffer) and/or sauerkraut.
Now you made me realize that we have some still uncooked. I might have to break out the cast iron skillet again and cook two more of them to take with me for lunch tomorrow.
Ketchup and Mustard. Anything else is unnatural.
I like my hot dogs like i like my men....
oops wrong thread :teddyr:

You basically described my hotdog, on a toasted bun if I must eat the thing!

The FREAKY FRANKS was a great laugh, thanks!
The day I posted this, I got some hot dogs from 7-11 for lunch and tried them with sauer kraut, which I hadnt tried before. Not bad. Chili dogs with cheese are my favorite, save for whatever trouble they cause later. Relish, though, is what usually goes on, if other stuff is not available.
Yep, Chilli Dogs are my favorite and I checked some of the standards of Ketchup and Mustard.
Man, this thread has me cravin' hot dogs. :teddyr:
Mustard, relish and onions on mine, please.
My favorite is a slaw dog, but I have to agree with Susan.
Mustard, Ketchup, Chili, and Slaw (Hot or Mustard). Too much stuf on a dog just turns it into a mushy mess, all the flavors cancel each other out.
Now that spring/summer is here and I have a new grill, time to grill some dogs again. With side fixings of glazed carrots.
