Title: BEYOND the WALL of SLEEP (2006)
Post by: RCMerchant on May 02, 2007, 05:56:44 AM
Tara Sue rented me this movie last night. Pretty dam bad. Gory, sick, irratating editing...atruly BAD film. Not one likable charecter in the whole mess. In the hands of someone like Brian Yunza, or Staurt Gordon...it could have been sooooo much better... has anyone else seen this thing?

As luck would have it, I'll be posting a full-length review of this tonight.  (That sensation you're feeling?   It's SUSPENSE!)

I tried to watch it, but couldn't stand more than 10 minutes or so. I sincerely hope Cthulhu has special plans for those amateur filmmakers.

I skipped to "the good parts" but the end credits are only so long!

I think I'm the only person who actually likes this film...

For one, I liked the chaotic editing, even though the creators actually hated it.  For me, it made the film feel a lot more surreal, which is more or less what I was expecting.

The dialogue is... well, almost Lovecraftian save for the f-bombs and such.  I've noticed they tried to keep it up with the fact that Lovecraft was a recluse and didn't know very well how to write dialogue.

On top of all this, the fact that the film felt like a German Expressionist flick interlaced with bad acid, grindhouse, and direct to video qualities just made it fun to watch.  I can see how people are put off by it, but I found it a worthwhile flick.
