Title: Has anyone seen these films?
Post by: John on February 20, 2002, 06:12:22 PM
I'm looking to pick up some low budget Horror/Exploitation films this weekend, any thoughts on these films?

"Mutator"(Monster on the loose film with a pre "Army Of Darkness" star Embeth Davidtz)

"Aftershock"(With John Saxon, and Michael Berryman)

"Zombie High"(With Virginia Madsen)

"Maniac"(Not the William Lustig film, this one is with the late, great, Oliver Reed)

"The Glove"(With John Saxon)

"Munchies"Roger Corman "Gremlins" take off)

"Phantom Empire"(Fred Olen Ray fun)

"Angel III"(With Maud Adams)

"Beyond Reason"(With Telly Savalas)

Any opinions on these films, are they worth a look?

I've seen Munchies, and it's not really a Gremlins take off. Not nearly as entertaining as Gremlins or its superior sequel (yes, I like Gremlins 2: The New Batch better than the original), but still fun to watch nonetheless.

I too have seen MUNCHIES.  I liked it a lot when I was a kid, but having seen the first half recently, I can tell you it's not good.

Still it is kind of fun to watch in its own way.  If it had a lot of gratuitous nudity it would have been much better.  Ah, well.  C'est la vie.

Zombie High is terribly boring, but has some moments.  I can't think of any of them, but I'm sure they were there.

I remember "Muchies", it's been a long time since I've seen it, it's not the classic that "Gremlins" is, but I remember it being a fun little Horror/Comedy. "Munchies" also stars the lovely Nadine Van Der Velde from 'Critters", and "After Midnight", she's an unsung genre actress, and she's one of my favorites.
