Get out the lighters. What is your choice for the worst power ballad ever? My vote goes to;
Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn
Just this morning after I dropped my 9 yr old off at school, at 7am mind you, "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue came on, and I almost wrecked turning it off. That gets my vote. Or "Sweet Child of Mine', I never did like GnR.

LOL
Speaking of GnR, my vote would go to November Rain as the absolute worst power ballad. There are few bands taht I dislike as much as GnR. They are only equaled in their badness by Aerosmith.
Pretty much any Aerosmith power ballad from 88 on up.

How about that "Can You Take Me Higher" by whoever wrote it? (Talking the 80s hair band song, not the one by Creed.)
"Heaven" from Warrant.
BTM, I think that was Damn Yankees.
The only purpose of the power ballad is to have one distinguishing track per album. Without Cemetery Gates and Planet Caravan, you'd never know which Pantera album you were listening to. :teddyr:
But if I have to choose, I'd say Miles Away by Winger. Or anything Winger has done for that matter. Haha.
Oh man, those are all my favorite songs! :teddyr: That newer Aerosmith stuff is pretty horrible though. They make Bon Jovi sound positively heavy in comparison. And they're about my parent's age, and they're singing love songs to teenagers? Sorta creepy. There's some song by Cheap Trick they always play on the Arena Rock station on my TV, it's just so sickeningly sweet I have to turn it off every time. No idea what the name of the song is though.
Jack is it "The Flame?"
That's it - "I will be...the FLAAAAAAAME!!!" followed by some sappy keyboard stuff.
How about this one?

Mike Tramp sounds so insufferable in this song.

Painful indeed, almost tearful. Almost as bad as a guy sounding castrated while singing...

Anything already mentioned can go. They play this crap all the time at work and it makes me want to hurt someone, though the only thing worse is the hip-hop rap crap, usually its one or the other.
You're all I need by Motley Crue
While there is wosre - "Fly to the Angels" by 'Slaughter' - i really, really hate that song

Hey...I like that song!
I like pretty much anything by Slaughter.
Put all Air Supply songs on a dartboard.
Throw dart.
(Mind you, that doesn't mean I won't listen to them, because I will.)
"Love Bites" by Def Leppard. Man their music sure did suck.
This is funny because I like most of these bands like Guns N Roses, Aerosmith and Def Leppard . I love punk, Metal and Hardcore but just like my movies I like all the cheesy hair metal stuff.
I would say power ballads by Cinderella or Winger. Maybe I don't like Winger due to hours watching Beavis and Butthead when I was a kid but man they suck.

Then you really won't want to watch these two videos...

Yes, BTM is talking about Damn Yankees, and the song is called High Enough.
As far as power ballads go, I'm really not sure, because in most cases I hear those two words together and I run like hell.
I found this list of somebodies top 10 favorite power ballads, I'd say it's a good top 10 list for the worst too;
1. Heaven - Warrant
2. Every Rose Has Its Throne -Poison
3. Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue
4. Open Arms - Journey
5. Siren Lucidity - Queensryche
6. Love Is On the Way - Saigon Kick
7. Still Loving You - Scorpions
8. Angel - Aerosmith
9. Keep On Loving You - REO
10. Goodbye to Romance - Ozzy Osbourn
Although I do kind still like #8 and #10
Did someone dare bring up KISS's Forever. A song written by Michael Bolton.

Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (...I Do It For You)
also one of the lamest cop-outs on a guitar solo ever...the only thing that can partially retrive a power-balllad from drowning in a swamp of hairspray and 80's emotion is to at least have some kind of balls-out axe solo or good section in the middle....this doesn't. plus it was also at #1 in the charts for 16 weeks in the uk.

That's a great song. I wouldn't really call it a power ballad.
Anything by Stryper (puke). I LOVE early Def Leppard, back before "Love Bites" that is. When they were just a straight up NWOBHM band.
I'd say pretty much anything by:
Winger
Stryper
Europe
"Don't Know What You Got 'Til It's Gone" by Cinderella. "Nobody's Fool" sucks pretty badly too.
I had Damn Yankees' first album on tape, I went through a brief phase when I thought Ted Nugent wasn't completely awful. I got sick of the tape pretty quickly, but used to take it with me on band trips because all the girls loved "High Enough". Meanwhile I was usually listening to Johnny Winter around that time.

Really? Hey, I never thought much of KISS, but now I really like that song!
There is more evil in your average power ballad than an Al-Qaeda suggestion box... and Michael Bolton is perhaps the only man I detest more than Chris De Burgh.
In fact, stick Lady In Red down there for me. And give it a good kicking while you're at it.
What's the name of the one by Mr. Big? To Be with you?
Either that or anything by Extreme. I hated that band from word go
