Title: Tonight's B Movie . . . Italian, anyone?
Post by: indianasmith on June 14, 2007, 11:41:09 PM
Reading discussions and reviews got me fired up for some Italian horror, so I rented Macabre.  This was a pretty disturbing film - it  built slowly but the climax was truly bizarre.  It reminded me of Faulkner's story "A Rose for Miss Emily".  The only really annoying thing was the soundtrack - it sounded like a bad parody of a 70's porn sound track.  The little girl was really a nasty  character, too.  Anybody else seen this one?

macabre was actually a pleasant surprise for me, i wasn't expecting that ending and it actually made me feel uneasy for about 5 seconds and i haven't felt uneasy watching a horror movie in some time. it did drag quite a few times, but it only added to the mystery. i loved when the little girl got it, though they didn't explain the evil behind her ways. i guess it was that she wanted her father all to her self and she used her mother to blame the death of her brother and made mother go crazy and be put away, i liked the fact the guy was blind though.  overall i give it 3 out of 4.

I got the double feature wiht Lamberto Bavas early picture "A Blade in the Dark. I really couldnt watch Macabre. The charactors were annoying, music was bad, and it was veeery slow. I might try to watch it again soon, but probably not.
