Title: CULT CAMP CLASSICS - Another great set for DVD collectors
Post by: The Burgomaster on June 28, 2007, 05:24:39 PM
I just ordered these 4 boxed sets from a new DVD series from Warner Brothers called CULT CAMP CLASSICS:

Volume 1 - Sci-fi Thrillers.  Set includes: ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN; THE GIANT BEHEMOTH; and QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE

Volume 2 - Women in Peril.  Set includes: THE BIG CUBE; CAGED; and TROG

Volume 3 - Terrorized Travelers.  Set includes: HOT RODS TO HELL; SKYJACKED; and ZERO HOUR

Volume 4 - Historical Epics.  Set includes: COLOSSUS OF RHODES; LAND OF THE PHARAOHS; and THE PRODIGAL

I'm sure I will have hours of enjoyment (and lots of comments for this forum) when these DVDs arrive.

I'm watching "The Giant Behemoth" right now.  Nice and clean print of the film.  I should mention that the VHS always seemed like it was a good quality transfer of the movie as well.  I love it how the one fisherman finds radioactive Behemoth ambergris on the beach, so he sticks his hand into it (and starts screaming).

Watched "Queen of Outer Space" earlier.  That movie wants to be a "Flash Gordon" serial so bad that it hurts.  I was also digging how the Captain was not willing to take one for the team once he saw the Queen's disfigured face.  The ridiculous death rays flying in from every which direction when the space station was destroyed are also hilarious.  I started having Tempest flashbacks during the death rays scene, because they were coming in from all directions with no rhyme or reason.  (Okay, maybe not Tempest, but a classic game with that sort of perspective, like Gyruss then.)

I remember Gyruss... wow, that's going back a bit for me... Queen of Outer Space is definitly a late night movie- best when sandwiched between Horror At Party Beach & Yongary, Monster from the Deep. Volume one's a shoe-in for me... I haven't seen Attack of the 50 ft. Woman in some time... which for me would go well with The Manster and The Giant Gila Monster...
