Title: What do you watch your movies on?
Post by: ghouck on July 11, 2007, 11:22:51 AM
Me, I have a 32" CRT (sylvania), a Yamaha DTS reciever, a Sony 400 Disc DVD jukebox, a Buffalo Linktherter, along with their Terastation for storage. Also, a Humax 80H Tivo with DVD-Burner, upgraded to 260+ hours. Also, I have one of those cool Logitech Harmony remotes, which stores the DVD library on it (can be read on the remote's LCD screen), so no need to remember what movie is in what slot, it lists them by title.

I'm betting most of you have something much better than my 32" crt.

Somehow I get the feeling that us comparing our equipment, and the size thereof, belongs in the penis thread.

My initial reaction to seeing the question 'What do you watch your movies on' was 'a television set'.

I'll leave it at that.

my laptop, using the CD/DVD drive.

if Ive got friends round to watch a movie I connect the headphone socket on my laptop into my guitar amp for more sound, and position the laptop so that everyone can see the screen okay.

60 inch Sony TV - - not one of the newer wide, flat screen, high-def models, but an older (probably about 8 or 9 years old now) model from the days when they were about the size of a dumpster.  But it still works fine, so I can't justify upgrading right now.

I also have a Sony 5.1 digital receiver.  I have a Bose center channel speaker and a pair of the od Bose 501s for my front left and right channels.  The rear speakers are from Cambridge Soundworks.

Most of my equipment is between 2 and 12 years old, but it still works.

And my penis is about this big:  <<<<     >>>>

It depends on the movie and who is doing the watching. If my wife and I are both watching, we'll do so on the big 52'' GE widescreen downstairs. I'll often watch something by myself on that one if it's something she doesn't want to watch (Italian zombie flicks for instance). Other times we'll watch upstairs on the 36'' Sony that has a standard screen. There is a second TV in the bedroom (with a fold out futon for sitting or lying down in front of it) - a 34'' inch Phillips widescreen. I will watch stuff on that with the aid of cordless earphones when she is already using the other upstairs TV and I don't feel like going downstairs.

I also have 3 TV's in the office. One is a small TV/VCR combo that sits right next to the monitor. Another is a 20'' inch Panasonic. I have my Xbox hooked to that one and will often play DVDs on it. The 3rd TV is an old one that just stands alone, only hooked to cable.

This scale works both ways, right?  I pawned my TV several years ago, so I watch my movies on a meager 17" computer monitor.

Ladies, call me!

TV if I am doing things on the computer, computer if I am not doing anything else while the shows play or reading.

In my living room, I have a 36 inch Sony flat screen television, a Sony DVD player and just I just run the sound through my 2 channel Technics stereo system.

I had one of the 1st type of 5.1 systems for it back when I just had a VCR and had it stored in a box under my bed when I still lived at home back in 1997.  My oldest sister accidentally flooded the downstairs and it ruined my center and rear speakers.   :hatred:

I also have a 20 inch flat screen Samsung TV in my spare bedroom along with a dirt cheap Apex DVD player back there (which actually works great).  That's so that when my nephews are staying over at my house, they can watch stuff back there.

I don't have a TV in my master bedroom as it's too much of a urge to watch DVD's instead of going to sleep.   :teddyr:

She had plugged the sink next to the washing machine to let some stuff soak but she didn't shut off the faucet completely so it just dripped and dripped while my sister/mom were out of town one weekend and I was out of town seeing a concert that weekend as well.

The basement floor was kind of warped so any water would all gather into my room in the corner.  When they got home there was about a foot of water in there.   The center and rear speakers were ruined as the water got up under my bed as well.   :hatred:  Oh well.

I'm planning on getting some kind of 5.1 set up here soon. Money has been a bit tighter for me over the past few years.
